~ ANGELOS blog Special 2/3: A Closer Joy Unknown - Chapter 19 ~
*Another power awakens, and two new characters enter the scene. The story gets good...*
~ Chapter 19 [We Were Strangers.] ~
~ The picnic was a whimsical success and, after everyone had their fill and Phil was reunited with his parents, the gang set back for the apartment.
'Well, I knew it was such a wonderful idea!' exclaimed Gillian chipperly. 'We had a great time, didn't we?'
'We sure did, Gillian love' replied Stephen, who was snacking on grapes.
'Any word yet from Sora about the SwitchCross?' Bernard asked Setsuna with a glance.
The Princess just looked back at him and shrugged. 'Wouldn't know yet really' she said. 'I guess we'll find out when we get back.'
'Wait--WHAT!?' Bernard replied, blinking. 'You mean you left the bloody Locket at the apartment!?'
'Well what's the worst that could happen, Bernard!?' she retorted.
'But what if Scarr got hold of it!?'
'He wouldn't even if his bloody existence depended on it' was her wry reply. With that she helped Stephen finish the last of the grapes as the gang arrived at the apartment.
When the gang entered the apartment Setsuna went straight away for her Locket, and opened it, checking for a transmission message. Her eyes widened as a transmitted message screened itself in a small image in front of the StarCrystal. The message started--
Princess!! *it was Sorata* Scarr is battling the rest of the Team here. He's sent a General after you!! You better be prepared for another battle!!
'What the--it's Sora!!' Bernard spoke as he glanced at the transmitted message. The transmission faded abruptly, and Setsuna looked to Bernard.
'Guys, we've got trouble in--' Setsuna started, but was interrupted by a calling from Stephen.
'OUTSIDE!! ANOTHER LOT OF MINIONS!!'
With that the Team ran outside, weapons back in hand as Setsuna glared at the latest General up for his demise.
'You know, it's a shame that Ito's brother had to be brought into this' she spoke at the General.
'Death Face, shut it' was General Hoki's reply, with a snarl. 'Minions, ATTACK!!'
'Oh f*ck, oh f*ck, oh F*CK!!' Peter panicked for a moment as Hoki's army of minions streamed out of the portal at a swift speed, charging for the Team.
'Sets... Ian...' Barney spoke, glancing to the two. The two looked back as he sent them a telepathic message:
+ RUN FOR IT!!! +
Both the Princess and Ian blinked and looked to Bernard, who nodded. + Go!! Now!! + he urged them. + While you still have a chance. We'll be alright here. Now GO!! + With that the Princess and Ian looked to each other, nodded, and took each other's hand and made a run for it. Bernard meanwhile drew back the bow, arrow aimed at Hoki's heart.
'Alright you c*nt' he growled. 'You're done.'
Meanwhile the two ran for dear life, unsure as to how long before, God forbid, Ian would have a seizure. Then what would Setsuna do? She could try to heal him, but what were the odds? What powers did she still have, if any, besides what she utilized so far? This she would find out, if possible. Until then, they ran for all they could.
Suddenly Ian grabbed by the hand a young woman he recognized, and she joined the two in the dash. Setsuna glanced to the newcomer, and the woman looked back at Setsuna.
'I take it you are the Princess?' she asked. Setsuna blinked and nodded.
Ian turned a corner ['THIS WAY!! WE'RE HEADIN' FOR WILSON'S!!' was his rallying call], until Setsuna glanced behind her--6 minions had followed them!
'Chuffed to podge!!' she exclaimed. 'They're right behind us!!' Ian and the woman looked back, then kept running. Setsuna followed them, muttering a spell of invisibility against minions. She crossed herself as they turned another corner, hoping the prayer and spellcasting would work.
'This way!' Ian urged on as the trio ran for Anthony Wilson's house. 'TONY!!'
Anthony looked out his living room window to see Ian, the woman and Setsuna running for his house, and hurriedly opened the door for the three to enter. 'Ian!!' he said with a smile, 'what brings you and Annik here?'
Setsuna glanced at the woman--So THAT's Annik Honore she thought to herself. She then looked on as Ian explained to Anthony the situation, and Anthony looked to the Princess.
'So YOU must be Miss Princess Setsuna!' Anthony greeted with a smile. Setsuna just blinked, shrugged, and smiled. 'Mind if I call you Setsuna?' he then asked with another smile.
'Sure, whatever works, Mr. Wilson' she replied. But he shook his head.
'No no, my dear. Tony works just fine' he answered back with a hug. 'Now, may I interest you in a cup of tea?'
The Princess blinked as if to say, What the Helen of Troy...!? But Annik just looked out the window.
'The creeps are clueless as to where we've gone' she said softly. Ian just held her, thankful she was alright. Setsuna sighed--the spell DID work. Now she could only hope that the rest of the Team were alright.
+ Bernard + she spoke to him telepathically, + you guys alright? +
+ We're alright, love + was the reply. She sighed in relief.
'What is it, Princess?' Ian asked, glancing to her.
'Just spoke with Bernard' she replied, looking at him and Annik. 'They seem to be alright.'
'Then they are alright, Princess' Ian answered, smiling a bit.
'...well, I guess we can only hope so' she said, turning away to face the window.
'Perhaps...' Annik spoke, looking to Setsuna, 'we can go back there and help them?'
'No' was the Princess's somber reply. 'Bernard told us to run. And we did, Ian and I. We just...
'We just ran.'
Annik went to Setsuna and embraced her. 'It will be alright, Miss Setsuna. Bernard, Peter, Stephen and Gillian are strong. Very strong. They'll be alright.'
Setsuna smiled sadly to her. 'I hope so.'
Ian then came to embrace the both of them. 'She's right, Princess. Just have hope.'
Setsuna just lowered her head, sighing a bit in grief. What if Bernard and the others were in trouble? Then what?
'Sets... stop, please' Ian pleaded, lifting her head to fix the gaze. 'It's not helping.'
'How would you know, Ian?' she asked bitterly.
'Because... the pain in my heart...' he replied hesitantly, '...it's the pain you're feeling right now. This pain is your suffering.'
Annik blinked and looked to Ian in surprise. Setsuna herself was in shock.
'...you're an empath!?' the Princess finally spoke, trying to make any sense of what was going on... ~
