~ Chapter 20 [The Power and Glory of Sin.] ~

~ 'What is an empath, Your Highness?' Annik spoke curiously, glancing to Setsuna. All that was going on was very strange and new to the Belgian, she finally met Setsuna and even escaped chaos from the likes of minions. But... to her, whatever Ian was, this was odd.

'An empath' Setsuna tried to explain to Annik and Ian, 'an empath can sense emotions of others, can feel the emotions of others. Which means, he is feeling my pain right now. That's why he... that's why he doesn't want me to be in the state I'm in.

'I hope I didn't confuse you...'

'Not confused at all' Annik admitted. 'Just... bewildered.'

'I know the feeling' Setsuna replied with a lopsided smile. 'Very well.'

After the group recovered with some tea and conversation with Anthony, and as the day drew to a close, Ian had suggested that everyone retire for the evening. Annik agreed and opted the couch. Anthony opened his guest room to Setsuna, who kindly accepted. Ian opted for the floor.

'Or the stairs' he quipped, gaining a chuckle from his mistress and the Princess. Anthony didn't get it.

After everyone settled in for the night, Setsuna tried to sleep in the guest bed, but couldn't even keep her eyes closed for five minutes. Unable to sleep and damn near frustrated beyond some sort of understanding, she made her way to the roof by opening the window and climbing up the side ladder. Sitting on the roof she covered herself with the blanket she brought with her, staring at the street ahead, trying to clear her head. She had much concern over what was going on--was the rest of the Team alright? Was Bernard alright? Did they take down Hoki and his minions? Or did Hoki...

did Hoki overtake the Team, leaving her and Ian defenseless?

She shook her head at the thought. F*ck it, Sets! she self-scolded. You're not gonna get home at this rate if all you do is sit and f*cking mope. Unfortunately, as much as she gladly would deny it, she was right. If there was any chance of her returning home by moping, there damn well was none. She couldn't just trouble herself greatly, no matter what the odds. In the end, when all was said and done, if and when she got home, it wouldn't matter.

It just wouldn't matter anymore.

'You know, if you keep up being the tragic sod I'd have to change your nickname, Princess' came a familiar voice, which startled Setsuna greatly. She turned her head to look at the sight of Ian...

shirtless.

The very image somewhat caused her to turn away, blushing. Thank the good Lord he's not a f*cking telepath--damn he's hot!! she thought to herself. Which was the last thing she EVER needed to think to herself! But alas, Ian sat beside her, staring out into the distance. She covered herself a bit with the blanket, besides being a bit cold but also a bit embarrassed of herself. The last thing she needed to think was about how handsome he was shirtless. Annik would have damn near killed her for it!!

'Princess, you're blushing--stop. It.'

Setsuna sighed and looked at him. His face was a bit stern, looking to her. She lowered her head. 'Sorry' she said quietly, and stared at the street below. Good thinking, f*cking idiot she mentally scolded herself again, and kept her eyes to the street.

'Can't sleep either?' Setsuna finally asked him after much silence. Ian nodded.

'Couldn't sleep a f*cking wink, Princess' he replied, staring off into the distance. 'Even if Annik was sleeping beside me I doubt I'd get through the whole night stuck in dreamland.'

'Been there, done that, had to deal with it,' she responded.

'What happened?' he asked, glancing to her.

'Still trying to deal with it' she said monotonously, eyes still fixed to a distance.

Ian chuckled. Setsuna glared at him. 'Not funny, Ian!' she whispered loudly, careful not to be loud. 'Bloody hell!'

'Sorry love' he apologized, 'but you're just too funny and too cute when you're pissed mad.'

She rolled her eyes. 'Thanks, charmer' she retorted.

Ian then placed a finger under her chin to have her face him and smiled. 'You're welcome, my favorite rebellious Princess' he replied gently, leaning over to plant a kiss on her lips. She blinked and thought, What the f*cking hell--!?, which in turn startled him enough to bolt back a bit. 'What happened??' he asked.

'...I didn't expect you to kiss me, Ian' she admitted. 'I thought you were an empath, not a telepath.'

'Yeah but, I sensed desire' he noted. 'And I guess you're not alone about it.'

Setsuna sighed, looking away for a moment. Ian was right--she did want him. Problem was, he was married. And he had a girlfriend. How the hell was she to compare to either one of them? She finally shoved that thought aside as her face met Ian's glance again.

'Funny way these things crash, don't they, Ian?' she spoke finally after what felt like an eternity of silence. She finally had the nerve to say something, unsure of what was going to happen next.

'Very' he replied, leaning over to kiss her again. But she stopped him by placing a finger over his mouth.

'Ian,' she spoke again, 'if you kiss me again, God help me I'll have to restrain myself with all my senses.'

'How so?' he asked, eyes still locked on hers.

'Ian' she sighed. 'You're married. Annik's here. What's this going to do? Chuffed to nothing, that's what.'

But he only held her face in his hands and whispered, 'Only if you want it to be, Princess,' before nibbling on her fingertip a bit. Setsuna just sighed and shook her head. Bloody hell she thought to herself, a bit unamused. If this keeps up there's no telling what will happen. And if Bernard should ever find out, good God! I don't want to know!! Plus...

I don't belong here. This is not my time. This...

This isn't home.

'You know' Ian spoke again. 'I like to nibble on your finger and all, but it's not as tasty as your mouth. Could you please move your finger to the side?'

Setsuna rolled her eyes. 'You'd have to make me, Ian Kevin Curtis' she retorted.

But Ian, with a slightly raised brow, plucked her by the shoulders, and stood up, forcing her to stand.

'Back to your room, young lady' he commanded.

With a slight blush she trudged herself onto the ladder, heading for the guest room window again. Chuffed to podge she thought to herself again. He's got me right where he wants me! It's gonna be a long night for me at this rate. By this point she was in the guest room again, with Ian just seconds behind her. They both stood facing each other, the slightly chilly night air creeping nicely into the room.

'Now' Ian said with a look that says Ha-ha, I've got you and you can't do jack about it!, 'strip.'

Setsuna raised a brow. 'Excuse you?' she retorted. 'Over my dead body are you ever going to make me strip for you.'

Ian himself raised a brow. 'Oh really?' he replied, crossing his arms.

'Yeah, really' she answered. 'Or as I like to say, go ahead and just try to make me.'

With a shrug, 'Okay' escaped his lips, and immediately he stripped himself of his pants and briefs, tossed them aside, and stood there with his arms crossed again.

The Princess's own jaw could've crashed to the floor when he did that. Chuffed to... WHAT THE HELL!? she thought. Good Lord, what the Helen of Troy was Bernard thinking telling us to run. Now I'm faced with a naked Ian Curtis. This is NOT what I was expecting...

...right?

'Now,' he said, his voice showing a sense of authority, 'strip.' ~
