Quitting jobs.. what a pain!

If you read me, I told you how horrible was the last week for me, it ended with the death of my uncle in the night of sunday to monday, but last week I also been to an interview for a job.

Well, I almost cancelled for the second time, I hate change, and to be honest, I already resigned 3 times from my current job, without success because they always managed to convince me to stay by doing counter-offers.

But this time, it was something special, I have been offered what I can say is my "dream job" on paper.. I'll be an architect for big public websites here in Quebec, working for one of the sister company of the biggest company in Quebec, Quebecor. Nobody knows who they are I guess, I don't mind, here in Quebec everybody knows, I accepted to work for Nurun, their sister IT branch.

I'm going to start this new job the next day I come back from England, so talk about a big change.. first trip outside of America followed by a new exciting job.

To be honest, I'll be scared as hell in the next few days to have aimed too high, but if they think I can do the job, I'll do my best... it means the end of my consultant job, so I'll be always working at the same place, not moving from client to client, and I also got a huge raise and more vacation.. what can I ask more?

Funny how life is... I had the worst week of my life last week, and that is followed by the best of news for me...go figure.. I was due..

I know my current job will probably do a counter-offer next week, we'll see, but I've been promised to many things and I've been bored with my job so much in the last year that a move was needed. You might have noticed that I posted a LOT from here in this "Community year", well, there's a reason for that, I hated my job..

Now I'll be the boss of a development team and tell them what to do, in a structured way... it was impossible to refuse their offer to be honest.

This company has also offices in Quebec City, Paris, Toronto, New York and Atlanta, and they all do the work in Montreal.. so I should be stable for a while, and is owned as I said by the biggest company in Quebec.

I'll be 33 in 3 weeks, to be honest I have no idea what I can expect in my career after that.. I have no interest in doing administrative tasks or management, so that's pretty much what I wanted to do in term of job... I wonder what the future will be, and I just can't say. I was offered a similar opportunity in 2000 when I was 27, I took it but I lost my job when the company was bought by another... so that is my only concern right now... but nobody's safe in today's world.

So wish me luck! I'll be starting this new job on halloween day, 2 days after my birthday, so it's my birthdray present to myself ;)

Cheers.
