Peter Hook Rules Out New Order Reunion for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Joy Division and New Order are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on November 14, with both bands honoured together at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Peter Hook, the bassist and founding member, has expressed genuine pleasure at the recognition, yet the induction will proceed without the reunited performance many might have hoped for.

Hook departed New Order in 2007 and famously took his former bandmates Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, and Gillian Gilbert to court in 2015 after they reunited without him. The case was settled out of court in 2017, but the scars remain sharp. Hook is emphatic that he will not perform with them in Los Angeles, framing the band's actions around the group's name as a profound betrayal that affected his family. For him, stepping away from New Order allowed him to finally abandon the façade he'd maintained for decades and speak truthfully about his experience.
