Joy Division and New Order Inducted Into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Joy Division and New Order have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's 2026 class, alongside eight other acts including Oasis and Phil Collins. The bands were nominated jointly for the third consecutive year, their combined legacy spanning post-punk innovation through electronic music evolution and beyond.

The induction carries particular resonance given the ongoing tensions between Peter Hook and his former bandmates. Hook has previously suggested that internal divisions may have affected the band's earlier nomination cycles, though this year's acceptance suggests their influence ultimately transcended those divisions. The induction ceremony takes place on 14 November at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with broadcasts in December on ABC and Disney+.
