Upcoming gigs

OK, haven't done this in a while, so what are the good gigs coming up in your area? In a few hours I will be heading off to the Prince of Wales pub (about 10 mins from my flat) to see the mighty Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - taking the day off work tomorrow to recover (hungover + slightly deaf = quiet day at home with greasy brunch). Should be an excellent gig, as the venue is quite small. Next week I should be getting my Big Day Out tickets - announced so far: Metallica, Strokes, Dandy Warhols, Mars Volta, Flaming Lips, Basement Jaxx, Aphex Twin, Datsuns, Gerling, Jet etc. Now if only the goddamn sun will finally come out (hello - halfway through spring already and no days over 25 yet!) everything will be sweet. Now to look busy for 3 hours.

saw brmc a few months ago... boy, were they coked up.

saw longwave last week. good show, though it was a poor turn out. they showed up at the same week we had our city music awards showcases (san diego loves it's music awards).

looking forward to spiritualized next month...

The Rain Band at Southampton Joiners in a couple of weeks time...

BRMC rocked - super tight, fuckin loud, great songs - just a shame about the super polite Melbourne crowd who nicely clapped after every song and stood deadstill the rest of the gig - WAKE UP!! Outside the venue they've got the upcoming gigs - coming shortly is Jazzy Jeff

Hasn't been anything really good out this way lately, so I hadn't even checked the schedules to see what's coming up, and a quick glance showed that Grandaddy, Robyn Hitchcock, Kristin Hersh, Killing Joke, and Spiritualized are top of the list.

Philip Glass in January, and The Pixies and The Cure next year.

There's the Octoberfest going on right now in my neck of the woods, it basically celebrates the German heritage of much of Walhalla. In other words, yet another excuse to stand around and drink. No good bands ever show, it's usually some country-and-western hogwash that plays every friggin year. That's about it

My best bud has to work tonight, so I might grab a ride with my little sis around 8 (she has to work at a booth...no jokes please!) and control myself, or not

kmfdm oct 26/27 echo and the bunnymen oct 29

saw echo last month, so my money is headed torwards one of the two kmfdm shows. hope it rocks!

I am going to see the Strokes in Barcelona in December and am considering going to see Echo and the bunnymen,Grandaddy with Snow Patrol and ....er...the beautiful south.

Radiohead did play in Atlanta recently (in fact I think it was last Monday), but I of course had to work and, what's more, DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT UNTIL IT WAS TOO FRIGGIN' LATE! :jump2:

Oh well, I still haven't gotten through all of "Hail to The Theif", but I have listened to enough of it to know that it's a step in the right direction. There's hints of "Kid A" and "OK Computer" all mixed together. One of these days, I'll finally listen to the whole thing all the way through

Hail to the Thief is so mediocre compared to Kid A and Amnesiac; i have tried to listen the songs on the album, but they are all boring except for "There, There", but I seem to be the only person on this world who dislikes the album, since it is a critical smash.

you are not alone tristan. no one in my band, not even the few devoit radiohead fans, seem to be into this album.

i am still trying to figure out the appeal of the band; it justs seems so overhyped. they put me to sleep when i went to see them on that 5 or 6 date Kid A mini-tour at the greek in LA a few years back. i dunno... it seems like there isn't anything there for me.

oh, i just remembered there is a mark gardner show next week. rad...

Maybe people dislike the album for the implicit criticism of the president that the album conveys :p

Radiohead have just announced 2 Aus shows next year - one in Sydney, one in Melbourne - last saw them supporting REM just after The Bends was released, so will probably go. Public Enemy have also just announced a Melb gig in Dec - that should be a blast.

just saw the strokes twice this week. them and interpol are the only new bands i like so i'm trying to see them as much as possible, since i already missed out on the likes of new order, the cure, dm, and pulp in their prime =(
