sometimes it takes a while for Fox to get me my football matches over here...
this morning, they were showing a replay of the Birmingham-Man U match...and what the fook was the ref thinking when he gives the keeper a red card for his takedown of Scholes?
do I just not get the rules of the beautiful game yet, or did this clown make a huge error when he sent off Taylor???
The law of our land states that all refs support Man U and all kids support Man U. (this has been ongoing for quite a large number of years)
2003 will be a good year to remember. Children from now on will start supporting Real Madrid (cos of Beckham) or Chelsea cos of their new found wealth.
The end of Man U is nigh.

I think HW was asking if the referee was called Mike Riley. I can't remember if it was, but he was going by the letter of the law, i.e. if the player fouled is the "last man" (no-one between him & goal except the keeper), then the player committing the foul must be sent off as he denied the player a clear goalscoring opportunity. Also known as a "professional foul". I think the referee was a bit harsh in this case, as awarding a penalty against the keeper was surely enough. Although, perhaps keeping van Nistelrooy's penalty record this season up to then (1/4!) in mind, maybe the ref didn't think a penalty would necessarily mean punishment.
