My computer's infected with spyware - whatever the heck that means. So, I can't go online, or use any application that needs the internet, and I've got to use the computer lab to type up my papers. It wouldn't be such a bad fate if a) I knew where to get adaware without having to go online (I can't burn CDs in the campus computer lab) b) I wasn't so addicted to the internet and this forum, and c) That I didn't have to listen to sound files for my history class, since the computers here don't have sound. I honestly have no idea how my computer got infected with spyware, but, right now, it takes about 20 minutes to boot up and I can't run most of the applications on it. So, it's going to be a while before I actually start making a whole bunch of useless posts, or checking this forum more than once a week.

That's a shame, I don't think I'd be able to cope without my comp.
I've been getting viruses the past 2 weeks Norton scanned my hard disc....very suspicious ![]()
Well recently due to a POWER SUPPLY problem i lost the computer for 4 days. Then once activated the internet hung every few mins.On top of that i lost ALL my music files and pictures/documents by NOT taking securities. So i know how you feel. Now i have a PC available again and it has a lot more space! :D Cheers ROCKET MICK

As you can see, I can't cope either. So, instead of writing out my paper by hand and reading for history, I'm in the computer lab on here. I just hope, as soon as I get a hold of this adaware program, that it doesn't destroy any of my files. I kind of want to keep the video for TPK and a video of the smashing pumpkins playing "bury me" in drag from about 12 years ago. But, if it restores my computer, it restores it.
I'm a little late chiming in on this, but try a program Spybot Search and Destroy. It's a free download and I believe you can find it easily at www.download.com. Works like a champ! ![]()
I learned my lesson about backing up when my new hard drive failed after 6 weeks and i lost half my uni work.
it says you are on line - shouldnt you be hard at work recovering your lost work major t?
i learned my lesson about backing up when i accidentaly selected 1st gear & ran over my lunch. but that's another story
Do what ever you can to get rid of Spyware, it totally fuct up my computer, it's a nightmare.

Is this available for people in the USA only? i've never heard of it hear down under, but thanx for the info mate. this is the link by the way.
Thanks for the links, but the main problem with my computer is that I can't get on the internet. I'm using the computers in the campus lab right now and none of them can burn a program onto a disc unfortunately. I tried ad-aware, after a tech support center burned it onto a CD for me, but that's not working either. So, pretty much I have to wait until next week to take my computer to them. Which doesn't really help me right now since I have a paper due on Monday.
