good luck to all jobseekers.

lost call-centre job, blessing in disguise, trying to get money from Dutch welfare system, another six month paperchase underway to prove I have had a job before I moved here etc etc. Ho-hum.

I wanted to do charity work but the authorities won't let me as it means 'I'm not available for full-time work'... frighteningly familiar from Thatcher's handiwork in the uk. Urg.

Did the UK system ever improve in the 90s?

I don't know what it was like in the Thatcher era but the system at the moment is the worst I have seen it since being made redundant in 94.Since then I have had to rely on shrt term contracts.

I would love to lose my current job, if only 'cos I've been at it five years and I'd rather contribute more to humanity than a "job well done" keeping someone's eggs from getting smashed or keeping the milk shelves close to full (anyone else who's ever worked in a grocery store, do the customers empty out the milk shelves faster than you can say "Damn!"? I'm always amazed at how many people feel the *need* to consume so much milk. Granted, I don't have a family to support or anything....I'm digressing, aren't I? )

Anyway, I'm having luck with the writing-things-for-humor-sites-that-can't-pay-me. When I start on the ones that do, maybe then I can devote myself full-time to writing crap that nobody will read :D
