that´s a thing half of americans don´t understand. your land is your land and it´s worth fight for. and even more if you are an musulman. they have a notion of their land that we might never understand.
besides, you just can´t bomb their land, kill their families, still their oil and then expect to be loved by them after that. local resistence is the most natural thing to happen when you don´t want to loose what´s yours. 
and don´t get me wrong, i´m not talking about the god damned Saddam Hussein here 
, he could die a thousand times and i won´t care. after all he served americans for many years when Iran was THE "issue". i´m talking about the simple people fighting for what´s left of their ruined country. at least, for someone like me shows an example of the right thing to do. i respect them. and the sad thing is that they will probably end dead. but they prefer that instead of living with the american foot on their heads.

Sadly it's not just Americans who don't understand that, it is also American puppets like Blair, who should be tried for crimes against humanity along with Bush. Two wrongs don't make a right, Dubya.
yes...this was all in jest...didn't mean to open up a debate on the pros and cons of invading Iraq...
and Almanso...you raise some valid points...the division of the Ottoman Empire after WWI was just a cocked up folly all the way around...
and let's not forget the brilliant decision to put a Jewish state in their backyard...I'm sure that won the Western World a ton of adoring fans...that and the fact that the United States supports just about every action the Isrealis take, no matter how inhumane...
and all the puppets that both the West and the Soviets supported probably didn't do much to popularize any of us...the United States counts the Saudis as one of our staunchest allies in the area, but that is one of the most corrupt regimes you will find in the entire world...they get more money than I can even fathom from oil companies, but instead of passing it on to the people, they keep it for themselves...same thing happened in Iran back in the days of the Shah...yes, I can see why the Iraqis aren't falling all over themselves to welcome their "liberators"...

oh, well. it´s just that i have just a couple of things clear in my mind, and this is one of them.
lo ciento myself...it was a joke, but you did bring up some very good points...made me think a moment...and unfortunately, as I said earlier, most of my fellow americans know fuckall about how the Middle East has been exploited in the last 100 years...
yeah, i said "50% of americans doesn´t understand..." but i really don´t know. i guess more americans might understand it. even though sometimes i think it´s a lot less!
as all is a matter of perspective from one side or the other. here on this site i´m one of the representatives of the "3rd world" and it´s obvious i understand the situation closer than the iraqis than the americans. just because i feel what they feel and understand what they´re suffering. there´s no bombing here but more than 50% of my country is under the line of poberty (nearly 30% indigent), "globalization" brought down the whole industries of my country, we replaced state monopolies by foreign private monopolies, the middle class (it used to be the largest percentage of the population here) was devastated, we have a foreign debt of more than 150,000 million dollars that never went to our people but our governants, and in order to pay that the people won´t eat, besides 30% of the active population is unemployed (here is one of them) and i could name a hundred of reasons more....
well, just that. man, i start writing and i just can´t stop! :p
