For some unknown reason, it seems that when somebody from Quebec make it somewhere, it is always good and big.. former example might be Celine Dion and Jacques Villeneuve...
But our local boy Éric Gagné did something I would have never expected from him, a perfect season, and now he won the Cy Young Award for best pitcher of the year.
Congrats to this young boy, and to think we almost traded for him until the Dodgers owner blocked the transaction!
He certainly did deserve it, helluva season he had, and not one blown save opportunity. Imagine how far behind the Giants they'dve been if not for him.:D

Gagne almost became a Blue Jay, but in the trade that the dodgers made for Paul Quantrill, they chose Luke Prokopec instead of Gagne
So pitchers like Schmidt and Prior should get the award when they have barely any wins??? 
Also look how important closers are; Jose Mesa prevented the Phils from getting to the playoffs. Also, you are bitter about the Rangers. How are my favorite ex-Dodgers doing, Chan Ho Park and Ismael Valdes :p
Well Jeff, I do agree that starting pitchers are by definition, the best pitchers out there.. when you can't start, you end up in the bull pen, it says it all...
But when a closer does something so wonderful, and that no starting pitchers stands out, it's normal to diserve it! it happens once every 15 years, it's not THAT bad...
