Sad, sad, sad...

I had to change my car CD player. My Sony was too old - 10 years.

So, I went buy a new one. And I bought a new one. A new CD player. And MD player :evil4: . And MP3 player :evil4: :evil4: .

So, I'm trying to fill up a CD with Joy Division songs, but, you see, I have only about 70 Joy Division songs :nonono: :cry: :evil4:

So (again), I need about...ah...let me see...150 more songs :evil4:

I need your help. I need all the songs you have :evil4:

Send me all live versions, B-sides, interviews... :evil4:

For my New Order box set I think I'll need 2 CDs :nonono: :evil4:

Are you saying you have a CD player, and MD player, and MP3 player...all in one unit?

But when I say MP3 player I'm not referring to those hand MP3 players. It's still a CD/MD player. The only difference is that ordinary players can read only in .WAV extension. When you record an audio CD, your MP3 files are automatically converted to .WAV - that is about 11 times bigger than .MP3. Well, you know...

My player reads .WAV AND .MP3 extensions. I don't record an audio CD, but a data CD (MP3 CD). My MP3 files are recorded as MP3 files. That's why you can record about 200 songs in a single CD.:)

I can record the CD on different folders and subfolders as it makes easy to find a damn song among the others. The player reads the information of the folders and the files (title, artist...)

But this is not exactly a new product, is it? :confused2:

If you had a 10 CD boot changer you could have about 2000 songs in your car at one time :nod: :clap: :jawdrop: :eek: :D:

why do you need 2000 songs in your car to listen to. Where on earth are you planning to drive to.

What yer really want is an in-car mp3 jukebox (ipod type thing). Wonder if they are available. With the car battery to draw on maybe it would get round the short battery life that is the one drawback of those things, and allow a really big hard drive (200Gig?). The tricky bit would be loading the mp3s onto it I suppose.

It's a good issue about the CD-changer. But I don't think there's already a cd-changer that reads mp3. The MP3 CD players came exactly to substitute them.

But I think they'll put in the market soon. Prepare your wallet. $$$$$. New toys like these costs a pretty penny.

PS: I've seen a lot of people with DVD players in the car, in the CD cabinet, with a little 5, 6 ou 7" monitor :nuts:

Is MD seriously used somewhere in the world?

I've seen the unit for sales at electronic stores, but I simply don't know ANYBODY using them... and I've never seen any outside of a store!

...I 4 myself use MiniDisc-Recorders, 'cause of track - looping & sampling; and they're more handsome, than CD-Players...

...btw, what is this Joy Division Box-Set consisting of ?...

I use a mini disc recorder to tape gigs using core stealth mics.

People say Dat is best,ast is 48,000hz but cd's only manage 44,000hz so I will stick with my Mini Disc recorder.

I don't have even one MD. I don't have a recorder! Actually, a MD player in the car absolutly useless. Except for the chicks: "It plays MP3 and MD. I can record 100 songs in this very small disc". "Cool!". And, of course, they don't know what is a MP3 or a MD :D :evil4:

Have to disagree with you on that. MD beats the crap out of CD in almost every way. MD is a far better format for the car than CD. First, the MD sound quality is almostas good as the CD sound quality. MD can be re-recorded 1 million times without losing sound quality; MD can be edited so that things like song order can be changed, new songs added. old ones erased, whatever. Can CD-R do the same? MD has a protctive case around the disc, so the disc can't really be damaged. Can you say that the surface of a CD can't be damaged? With MD, you can record all your favorite music off your CDs, and not have to risk damaging or losing your CDs in your car.

Agree in some points. But:

CD=700MB; MD=140 MB
My player reads CD-RW, so I can change the order of the songs the same way I do with MDs.

In this last point, I have a complain. I don't know why, but when I record a MP3 CD (and I suppose it's the same with MDs) I can't change the order of songs, as I can't change the order of the folders either. I mean, software makes it automatic. I use "Nero".

Is that right? Is it different of recording .WAV? Or I'm doing something wrong? :confused:

How bizarre, Andrei!! Well, it looks like I'll have to wait some time to buy it... specially in my case, living in a safe city like Rio de Janeiro... where my car radio was stolen only 1 month after I bought it.:(

Perhaps I can make a deal with Mr. Sultan... he could buy it for me and then exchange it for one of my legit framed Gillian Gilbert's panties...

I want a MD player. Smaller and do not skip runs on normal batteries. Personally i would use them for my car and my bicycle. Great for camping. Every July I do a 500 mile bicycle tour. I hate bringing real CDs because of skipping and scratching and the possibility of being lost. Some of my friends use mp3 players both cd and ipod style. A decent bike stereo can be built cheaply too with enough volume to make people think it was a rice car. Battery issue with ipods, a week with electricity.

MDs currently can hold 4 hours of mp3 per disc. not bad. how many NO shows can you fit on a 4 hour disc??? At least 4 of the older gigs.

Sonly is claiming to have a new MD disc that holds 40 hours of music!! :clap:

The next trick'll be when they find a way of getting the dvd players to play dvd-r's with mp3's on 'em. ATM only CD-r's of mp3's are "unlocked" by the standards to play, but 4.7G against 700meg would be cool.

Nice bit of kit you've got that plays MD's & Mp3 Cd's though!
