Even had a back stage pass from the great man himself - Steve Hillage, and he let me video the set.

Yeah - it's a nice wee compact place, and the handy thing is that the door is right next to the bar. So we stayed in the bar till the last possible moment, and entered just as the band started, right at the front of the stage...fuckin magic that was. We were fookin hammered - but from what I remember, it was a great night;)

2003 was such a bad year for concerts in Brazil. The only GREAT gig that I saw this year was... Coldplay! :eek:

Saw Craig Charles ( Lister ), when he did his Live On Earth tour, good stuff. The best (only) venue in Northants.

R.E.M. (Tivoli, Utrecht)
Radiohead (Rock Werchter, Belgium)
Guided By Voices (Paradiso, Amsterdam)
The Strokes (Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam)
Frank Black & The Catholics (Melkweg, Amsterdam)

Dexys Midnight Runners - Leeds Grand Theatre
Durutti Column - Manchester Academy 3
Inspiral Carpets - York Barbican
Billy Bragg - Borders, Oxford Street, London (doen't really count as a gig, but he was excellent).

I didn't get to go to any! There weren't many good ones and the few decent shows we did get here were too expensive. Better luck this year, I hope!

Just like Shelley, I missed alot of good shows. Working too much to make the drive to Chicago, Minneapolis or Kansas City. However, at the rish of a flame war, I will say that The Cure's performance at Inland Invasion was great. Only two bad Cure songs, 39 and something off of their previous album. Fat Bob even rolled up his sleeves for The Kiss and damn near broke the guitar. During the encore of Disintegretion I thought he was going to fall over.

The next best were The Violent Femmes who opened with American Music. They brought the crowd to their feet.

Shelley, gigs in belfast last year that i went to:

Idlewild- Mandela Hall Dirty Vegas- Mandela Hall Travis- Ulster Hall Stereophonics- Odyssey Strokes- Ulster Hall Inspiral Carpets- Limelight Feeder- Waterfront. The Thrills- Ulster Hall

So, it wasnt too bad. And of course, the Complete Stone roses, an amazing tribute band. And there was starsailor two weeks ago.

Maybe next year will be good. Maybe the Order might play a gig? (get them in the ulster hall i say)

The Strokes? Starsailor? :nonono: They're both terrible! Not keen on Idlewild either and I don't know enough about the Carpets. I would've liked to have gone to the other ones, though. I hope the Order get over here soon but I'm not sure if the Ulster Hall would be the right venue for them. Maybe the Waterfront?

MOVE, was that 2003, can't remember.... good though

Hooky with Hybrid at fabric. Pissed out of my mind nose to nose with the man himself (very bloodshot he was too)in the last bars staring into me eyes probably thinking "who the fook is the cockney staring at" But he smiled and I smiled and it was fantastic. Something to carry to my grave.

I admire the Hooky but don't go too far about him. I think my fiance would have something to say about that. He is one of the best guitarist / crowd pleasers I have ever seen. Very giving, even now to the audience whereas back in early vids in 80s he didn't want to know his audience. Still a thrill for me as I write this. Just reminds me why NO are still worth waiting for.
