If anyone is a windows expert or knows anything about digital cameras, please help!

When i plug my digital camera into the USB port on the PC I used to get a nice box popping up telling me to choose what i wanted to do, E.G. play video, view pictures, open folder to view files etc ... now i get an autoplay box which pops up and sits on the screen for a while, then a window appears displaying the contents of my camera which it shows to be empty. There should be a folder to click on and then you get to the pictures. The other strange thing is that after this the only way to turn my camera off is to take the batteries out. It never used to do this! I have recently re-installed windows, but i've put on all the necessary drivers and so on.

Can anyone help me out?

What version of Windoze? Did you instal the camera software? What camera? What photo editing software do you use?

When I plug mine in I either fire up Adobe PhotoShop or click on My Computer and the camera appears as a drive.

Good luck.

Samsung Digimax 201

I just use the windows viewing effort

That used to work. It recognises it as a drive, but there is nothing on it.

Camera plugged in properly?? I had one that I had to replug in several times.

Maybe reinstal the camera drivers

OR

Get a reader for the camera's disc/memory card. I paid $12 USD for a smart card reader. It plugged into my USB hub. Works fast.
