Strictly off-topic this one, but hopefully the title will have put off the less discerning NOOLer...

From NME.com (where everyone loves Morrissey, don't you know):

"MORRISSEY's guitarist has revealed more details about the singer's first album in seven years, 'YOU ARE THE QUARRY'.

The record is due for release in April through the Sanctuary record label, on the Attack imprint.

Alan Whyte said: "It's going to be a great album. Think the fans will be really, really excited. I personally think it's the best Morrissey album to date."

Morrissey and his band have recorded almost 30 songs in Oxfordshire's Hook (?) End Manor with producer Jerry Finn.

Whyte told BBC's 6 Music: "It's kind of like a cross between 'Your Arsenal' and 'Vauxhall & I' musically - there's real variety there. There are some slow songs, some uptempo ones and a few real tough-sounding tracks."

New song titles expected to appear on the album include 'My Life Is A Series Of People Saying Goodbye', 'Teenage Dad On His Estate' and 'Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice'.

As previously reported on NME.COM, other titles include 'I Have Forgiven Jesus', 'Come Back To Camden', 'How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel' and 'I'm Not Sorry'.

Last year Morrissey briefly returned to the UK, where he told Manchester's City Life magazine about the reason for the length of time since his last album, 1997's 'Maladjusted'.

"I honestly didn't have any decent offers," he said. "For example, three major US labels said 'We want you, but we don't want your band', so I turned them down. Another label said 'We want to sign you, but we'd like you to make an album with the musicians from Radiohead', and another label said 'We'll sign you if you agree to make an album with Tracey Thorn'. Absolutely bewildering. People don't know what I've been through."

Judging by the song titles we could have a "Is Morrissey more religious than Barney thread" :)

He should've gone to St. Louis. I hear it's marvelous this time of year. And when I say that, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Although Mr. Morriisseeyy might fit in just fine with all those whiney, pale emo kids down in Austin.

He's said that the Mexican-Americans of East LA are some of his biggest fans. Some sort of cross-cultural connection.

His early solo stuff (particularly the 1st album with the excellent Vini Reilly on guitar was still good), but it just seemed to go progressively downhill from there!!!

Same Here. There are some single Highlights like the Ouija Board! Ouija Board! -single with the great almost like the smiths b-side "Yes, I am Blind".

Has anyone else noticed that when people slag of Moz the only reason they can give is that he is 'miserable' or an equivalent?

And they never seem to slag off his music, which is strange, because as a fan of Smiths/Moz for about eight years, i can hold my hands up and say "yes, hes done a fair bit of crap".

Also, they never seem to realise the comic value of it all. Songs like Rubber Ring, Ouija Board, We hate it when our friends become successful, Roys Keen, Heaven Knows I'm miserable now etc etc...

Quite right Liam. But there's no pleasing some people, is there?

Gotta say the miserable tag seems to come from the fact that you seem to either love or hate his voice (I'm still a big fan of The Smiths & earlier Moz stuff). The hate usually seems to be beacuse of the whining/droning/miserable/depressing nature of his voice if it doesn't float your boat.

Easy there, killer. You have to understand that most of the pasties in Austin are just there to "find" themselves whilst living off of mommy and daddy's credit cards. Then, when they graduate or the money runs out, they cut their hair, get a tan and move back to Dallas or Houston to get a job like the rest of us.

There's nothing funnier than seeing a guy you knew in school who was going "rasta" or "goth" now dressed in Dockers and a buttoned down Polo (and I wear Dockers and Polos :) )

Morrissey's finest moment was reaching out to the crowd during The Boy With The Thorn In His Side in October 1985 at Newport Centre, and reaching just a little too far, far enough for the front row to grab him and give him a shoeing. The band played on til the end of the song, then went offstage for ten mins, then came back for an encore of The Draize Train. Moz survived, but I suppose you can't have everything.

Possibly.Richard Butler went on to form Love Spit Love who covered How soon Is Now.
