Very interesting, I could have come up with at least 30 nicknames for the Huns - pity they didnae include a Scottish table, cos I can think of a few nicknames for Hearts and Aberdeen as well :evil4:

Funny seeing Kettering are rivals of Rushden D's.....Every bastard I know hates the sheepshaggers :lol:

good to see derby and forest in there.

i have always been a derby fan and when i did my cruciates playing footer i followed them home and away for 18 months. the strange thing is my wife is a season ticket holder at forest :cry:

when i pack up footer i dont think i will be able to watch the dross being served up at pride park...i defo cant go to the city ground.

i think i may trawl round a few non-league grounds

When was this list done..recently..? CHELSEA's main rivals are The Yids (Spurs) and have been for many,many years both football wise and fan wise. Arsenal, Leeds and Man utd were big in the 70's & 80's, but the songs sung around 'Stamford Bridge' are about Spurs(and full of hate they are). The rivalry started between us (before i was born) after loosing in the 1967 F.A.Cup final and has carried on. Football wise Spurs hate Arsenal more..but fan wise it's CHELSEA, and the battles and hatered is getting worse. Shug, you go on about Celtic- Rangers rivalry, football wise yes they are each others main rivals...but fan wise its Rangers - Aberdeen. Certain firms have big contacts and run with each other, CHELSEA/Rangers and Spurs/Aberdeen being the two main ones and this was everdant at a very nasty battle(which i was present) by Victoria stn after CHELSEA- Spurs F.A.Cup game a couple of years ago. Spurs & Aberdeen main lads turned up and went for it with Chelsea & some main Rangers ICF lads, resulting in some hospital treatment for some. Pesonally i think certain rivalries remain and some die down, new generations etc.

I know what yer saying Duffers, but even with the Huns and the Dirty Dons' firms - you STILL don't see the same level of hatred as you would between Celtic and Rangers. Let me explain....The Rangers ICF and Dons Casuals are an organised bunch of animals, they arrange a lot of the get togethers, and their hatred has been brewing since Neale Coopers challenge on Ian Durrant, back in 1988. Aberdeen supporters have even sung "We hate Rangers more than you" when playing Celtic, which always tickles me :lol: Since 88 we've had loads of trouble in the Aberdeen v Rangers games, espescially the coin throwing incident at Pittodrie January 2001, there were a lot of ugly faces, sorry, ugly scenes at that game. BUT even with their growing rivalry - it's mainly the organised hooligans which makes this stand out, you don't hear of people being murdered like you do with Celtic and Rangers! I think over the last few years there have been 5 deaths, and numerous random slashings, leg breaks etc.... Nil By Mouth would have exact figures. The worst day I heard of was after the St Johnstone league clincher in 1998, I was at the game, and I remember hearing the next day, that a young Celtic fan had been stabbed to death, by a Rangers supporter for no reason, simply because he was wearing a Celtic scarf, and that night there were over 50 people with Mars bars, because they either had Celtic tops on, or because they were waering Green clothes.....that's HATRED. I distance myself from all this, and don't get me wrong there is a very small minority of Celtic thugs. But in the main the "Normal" supporters of Celtic and Rangers still hate each other, and the atmosphere during a Rangers Aberdeen game could NEVER match the Hatred and Animosity between the Old Firm.

I should also mention, it's not anything we're proud of.

But we should also remember, Celtic still get invited to play friendlies, I don't think Rangers have been invited anywhere since the Sunderland game in the 80's. Although I can see them playing Millwall or Chelsea, then their with their English Brothers;)

Firstly i would'nt call Rangers/Aberdeen or any Football Casuals animals just because they like a row, i can think of plenty of worse offenders. I've spoken with many Rangers fans on this issue and yes i know there has been deaths etc..but both teams & majority of fans live in the same city, plus the argument of sectarianism adds alot to this debate. The Rangers lads gave me the impression that the Celtic lads were not really the threat that Aberdeen were and hated them more.

I think you're talking about a minority though, Dufford. The regular joe in the street is gonna recognise the Celtic-Rangers rivalry, but as you say the majority of people you might personally know (ITK) will recognise the Aberdeen thing first and foremost.

Personally, I was just disappointed that we didn't even squeeze past bloody Brentford in QPR's top three!

Defo a recent poll though, as we have Plymouth 3rd, and that's only reared its head in the past two years. And has dissipated again already.

Shame the way football is changing though - disappointing that a club like Arsenal can have United as their biggest rival. Old habits are dying out.

I've always liked the way there are different sorts of rivalry. I know we're talking on a different scale here, but our main rivals when I was a kid were always Hereford, then the local media tried to make it Kidderminster and then Bromsgrove and Tamworth. We considered Gloucester to be rivals when they were in our league, as were Cheltenham. These days, it is the local pub teams and whoever is on Sky that night when we have a midweek home game who are the local rivals, in terms of taking fans off the gate !

As far as I am concerned, Kidderminster will always be rivals, as will Tamworth. Never minded Hereford that much, most of the competition between the teams was before my time.

Having seen first hand, the grief the Aberdeen casuals inflicted on innocent football supporters in the London Tavern a couple of year back, I totally disagree, if the individual groups wish to arrange a fight somewhere, fair enough. Fucking bang out of order "storming a pub" before a game, with loads of weans in it at along with their dads. So the threat you refer to is not from yer average supporter, it's from rival gangs, so I would definitely agree that the Dirty Dons are more of a threat to the huns :nod:

I remember Colchester playing Tamworth in the FA Cup when I was at Uni there. They played Wolves in the old 4th division the same season and the whole town was on red-alert and nothing happened. Then Tamworth turned up for the Cup and it was bedlam everywhere. Lots of perms, hilites and 'taches, and this was in 87, or maybe 88, when these things were already fast dying off.

The sad thing about the Forest/D**** C***** thing is that we'll both be in Div2 next season unless something pretty fuckin' amazing happens.

Still, we've got another 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Blades this weekend to look forward to first...

I've noticed the Plymouth thing with Luton in the past couple of years and heard you both brought impressive firms to each other. Fair play.
