Kraftwerk played the first show of the tour yesterday in Helsinki. No major surprises; similar to previous tours with additional tracks from TDFS. Looks like a long set though.

Indeed, a very long set!

Looks like they've got all bases covered there though - they've thrown in everything bar the kitchen sink!!

Yeah, not bad, although I would replace a song like Numbers by Computerlove or Showroom Dummies, for instance. One can never be fully happy. :(

In any case, I'll be very satisfied if they come up with that exact same set in Montreal. :clap:

I've always been curious and wanted to ask: Do they sing in German or English? I prefer many of their tunes in German.

No. Way! I think Numbers is one of their finer moments (think I must've listed it in me top 5 when we did that recently). The drum patterns are amazing, and were robbed for Planet Rock. Besides they always segue this into ComputerWorld live, much in the same way as they attempt on the album, so both tracks always come hand in hand.

Allan, do you think they'll come up with a huge remote control during the song POCKET CALCULATOR, like they used to do in the 80s from what I heard in the past, in order to let the fans press a little key so that it can play a little melody ????

I think it depends on which country they're playing in and on the song. Autobahn is always sung in German 'cos (as far as I'm aware) there's only German lyrics for it. There is a German version of Tour De France but I've never heard it sung live in German, though maybe others have? Last time I saw them in '91 they played Pocket Calculator and sung a bit of that in Japanese - they played that on little hand held instruments though I don't remember them letting members of the audience play them.

Totally agree with you re. Numbers, Al...it's a great opening number - no Kraftwerk show's complete without it in my opinion!
