I completed watching the first season on DVD yesterday (didn't get that one on television, for some reason).

Is there anyone else on this site watching this series? I like the fact that it attacks every major taboo in our society. Six Feet Under was created, co-written and executive produced by Alan Ball, who wrote the screenplay for the award-winning film AMERICAN BEAUTY.

But I'm amazed at how far they go when it comes to showing homosexuality, fully naked men, and at how many times the "F" word is heard.

Can anyone in the USA explain to me how they get away with this, when the FCC is making a scandal with Janet's boob and Bono's one-time use of the F word ??????

Haven't seen much of it myself, but there's been threads in the past about it. :shrug:

As for the amount of nudity and profanity...well, it's on HBO. You pay for HBO, you don't pay for the basic channels like CBS (thus the overblown and totally overhyped "reaction" to Ms. Janet's getting nasty during the Super Bowl).

Yeah, I know -- bumped into their website by mistake when looking for info about the TV serie!

I didn't know HBO was a pay-channel. Do they get good ratings for Six Feet Under anyway?

Broadcast companies are forced to abide by FCC regulations. Cable companies are not bound by them.

Makes no sense at all. But one pays for cable channels and gets broadcast channels free.

in canada cable is different, cable is the standard that everyone has, unless of course you have sattelite... you cable company provides you with all of the cable channels... digital cable channels, may require you to pay though, like $1 a month or something...

Which town are you referring to?

Got the 1st series of Six Feet Under on DVD for Xmas, but not watched it yet. Next on my list. Actually got the first three series of the Sopranos for Xmas too (again, a show I haven't watched before) and ended up watching 'em all, and the 4th series too. Quality TV.

ajax is like some tiny little town just east of toronto... the youth of our town like to call it gayjax (not me, i'm half gay, so lol)... ajax is boring, and there is never anything to do...

don't know. all i know is that eye-axe is a football team, while eh-jacks is a scouring cleanser!
