what turns a great day into a shite day?

you wake up, the sun is warm, the sky is blue, the birds are singing.... and suddenly one event comes and ruins everything! :(

for example. breakfast. you are happy covering a toast with butter or jam. and it suddenly slips from your hand and lands in your pants or shirt (obviously) with the side of the jam down! :nonono:

you take your cup of coffee and your finger gets trapped in the handle. you try to get out of there but you can´t do it gently. so you start to freak out until all the hot coffee drops on you and you get a 2nd grade burn! :skeptic:

you go to school/work and you´re late because of the previous. so you run to catch the bus. you get to the corner and there it goes. forget it, you´re late!

suddenly a second bus appears, so you think you haven´t been so unlucky after all. you cross the street to catch it and at the moment you´re going on the bus you stumble and clean the street with your face. :blackeye:

those are real stories that happened to real people i know. :eek3:

what could transform MY day? obviously, anything of that. but especially the small things. sometimes objects falls from my hands.... one, two, three times in a row! that could freak me out. usually i kick the object into the wall to express my angry. another thing could be when i drop a bottle of anything on the table. i get so mad that my only reaction is to watch the liquid fall from its recipient as i scream "you want to spill? then spill!" :mad2:

so, tell us. in your case what things turn a great day into a shite day? :brow:

Getting up in the morning. London blunderground. Getting to work. Working. London blunderground. Shite TV. Realising the whole thing is stuck in a loop and I haven't got access to the control panel.

Getting home from work, believing you have beer in the fridge. Opening the door and realising you haven't. Then having to pop out to get some, and stick em in the freezer to chill em down. :uhoh:

Having a brainwave and wiring up your amp via your PC to listen to NewOrder in glorious surround sound and then discovering that one of the amp channels has blown and having to dismantle the whole lot and go back to your midi system :nonono:

Going to work usually ruins a perfectly good day for me.

Well, waking up and have my mother talking to me like a radio usually get me nuts. Or when a neighbor wakes me up with a hammer or any machine he is using to make arrangements in his house. And I hate waking up early (and with the clock counting)to meet someone and be called out just after I got a shower...

Seeing ShugZVs greetin face first thing in the morning usually does it for me

Yesterday, I went to relieve myself and thought, apart from a harmless piffle, that I was done. No sooner did I leave the men's room as I noticed a large wet stain right in my crotch area :nervous: I was wearing khakis, which are notoriously bad for not drying quick enough, so I had to grab a little "school schedule" note that's always lying around on tables in various parts of the college to cover me until I could get to the nearest mens room (the very same I had just left and was on my way to the lunch room when I noticed the stain) and dry and force it dry with toilet paper. :nonono:

Needless to say, I won't be wearing khakis anytime soon :D

A speeding ticket.

A trip to the dentist for a simple filling (not even cavity related!). After eleven, that's right, ELEVEN!!! shots of laticane, my tooth still wasn't numb enough on which to drill. So, the denstist filled the depression with whatever epoxy type stuff they use. Why didn't he do that in the first place???

Realizing after it's too late that the milk you just poured over your last serving of Honey Nut Cheerios is spoiled.

Realising you only have enough milk for coffee after pouring your cereal into the bowl in the morning...

Or even worse realising you have got NO MILK at at all after already mixing your coffee and sugar in preparation for your morning coffee and facing the daunting prospect of turbocharged coffee at an ungodly hour of the morning

Waking up to take a shower, only, after five minutes, to get blasted with a shot of freezing cold water. Or, to look in my fridge, only to find there's only mac and cheese and soup left. Or, my mother calls unexpectedly to ask about how the weather is in Boston. Or, I go to class, only to find I didn't do the reading for the night before and the instructor asks me first, of all people, some question or another.

CC seems hellbent on reminding us just how bad the Eighties were for cinematic comedy (any "Revenge of the Nerd" movie past the first one, Tom Hanks before he became "Tom Hanks", etc). I miss the Daily Show and South Park, but I don't miss repeat showings of "The Money Pit" :nonono:

Bolton's ticket office can seriously damage your health. Didn't someone get stabbed in the queue for Worthington Final tickets?

Realizing your car is slowly deteriorating (loosing antifreeze, door and lock mechanisms freezing and some deciding to never work again, new brake pads and rotors needed, rust reappearing)...gotta love 2 months of temperatures below 30.

And needing to go to relatives cuz you're dirt fucking poor.

Waking up in my nice warm apartment (about 80F, the way I like it), getting dressed in normal clothes, and then stepping outside to discover it's -25F with the wind chill. Going back inside, putting on three more layers of clothes, a giant down jacket, two pairs of gloves, three pairs of socks, two hats, two hoods, and a scarf, and *still* freezing my butt off while waiting for the train...

As a side note, I am currently taking suggestions as to where I should move after I get out of school... My only requirement is "warmer than Boston..." :)

As it happens, I should have done. I have stubbs from the european tie against Steua Bucharest. LFC are selling the next two rounds together. You needs stubbs to apply. After spending most of the day just trying to get through on the phone lines for the Steau game I got through, waited in the queue for 40 minutes, got to position no.1, waited for about 8 minutes and was then cut off. So I bought some of someone who was selling some he'd bought on-line. I went to the ticket office this dinner time only to be told, I can't buy tickets at the ticket office with stubbs purchased online. I have to apply on-line, or wait until they go on general sale.

I'd like to see em up there again, but something is missing

I'd give...well, something of great value to have a day like that.

But on whe whole, sounds like Groundhog Day...

"What would you do if you were stuck in one place, and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?"

"That about sums it up for me"

Waking up, turning on the television and seeing it is f-ing 3AM in the morning and I only got 4 hours of sleep and that I better go back to sleep soon and wake up at 6:30 so I have enough time to get ready and go to school before 8

Getting up earlier than 7 AM just about does me in :nonono: . If I don't fall asleep while driving to class down at Tech, I get real unpleasant later on in the afternoon, and devolve into spitting out gibberesh that is frankly out of left field (such as today, when I got up at 6:25, didn't fall asleep on the way to school but almost did during my Math class, was a real bastard when I went to work, and started talking about "laying down some real phat beats" to my amused coworkers :D )

Being that I drive quite a bit for our work, the worst thing is neandrethal drivers, and their blatantly bad disregard for many basic rules of the road (today, I had to slam on the brakes, and narrowly missed t-boning a small car, when on a two-lane one way street, this person, in the right lane, decides he wanted to turn left in front of me.) Stupid motherfocker indeed  though we can't even allow ourselves to get involved with anything that appears like road rage.

Going into my favourite lunch spot, and seeing a certain someone's dumbass ex-boyfriend.

Moronic blabber from Red Sox fans the whole year round......

That happened to me a few days ago. I was supposed to get up at 8, but winded getting up at 3 and only realized it when I was in the shower.

In simple terms Man Utd and Chelsea have more money than us and Arsenal have a better manager.

How about being in a hurry to leave for school early in the morning, only to find ice covering your windshield and having to use your shirt sleeve or jacket sleeve to scrape it off as best you can? I figure the minute I actually break down and get an ice scraper, it'll be springtime all of a sudden and no more cold temps in the morning :nonono:

Finding out that a gig you've been looking forward to for ages has had to be postponed, probably until at least May. That happened to me on Thursday - grrrrrrr! :nonono: Oh well, on the bright side, it's something to look forward to later in the year. :)

Well...

Once I missed my train because of a traffic jam on a boulevard close to my house, so I tried to get to another station to catch the same train, knowing it's possible... I rushed, and well, I managed to get there on time...

I parked my car at the last places available.. far away from the track, I had to run (and I have a bad knee, so running is very hard for me) or anyways, walk very fast to catch it...

The way this station is done, you have 2 tracks, one for each direction, and the parking lot is on the other side of the direction I'm going... so I see the train coming, I know I'm ok.. but I have to cross the tracks to get on the other side...

Seeing the train coming, I stop and I said, let's wait until the train stops, I'll cross and then enter the train...

So the train is coming, but continues and half a wagon is now in front of the path to cross the track, and I can't get through!!!! there is no freaking way I can get through!!

And then the train leaves, I have to wait 1 hour in the cold of a Canadian winter for the next damned train and be 1h late to work because of that..

It was 1 hour of cursing and kicking ticket boots everywhere around me, I'll tell you... I actually got back to my car and went to the station close to my house, and.. hum, ALMOST missed the other train :evil4:

It could have been worst!! ;)

How many times do I get up late and get outside to see that I have 5 mins to get to that train and that it snowed and I have a freaking huge amount of snow behind my car that I have to remove before being able to leave... :nonono:

I was in Venice in January 2003. On my last night there, I stayed out very late catching as much of the city as I could. In the morning, I had to catch a bus to the airport, and fly from Venice to Milan, where I would catch my return flight home. Well, I stayed out very late, and naturally, overslept in the morning. I had juts enough time to get to the bus station-- maybe-- if I really hurried. I went to the dock, a boat approached- and I asked the deckhand, in my flawless Italian, if that was the boat to the bus station. He waved me aboard, and the boat then left in the OPPOSITE direction, away from the bus station. I got off at the next dock, and all of Venice must have heard what I had to say, standing alone on the dock in the dark, while the bus to the airport was about to leave. By the time I got to the bus station, I had missed the bus, and therefore the flight to Milan. I ended up taking the train to Milan (cheaper than flying), and when I arrived at the airport, they refused to allow me on to another flight until I paid an additional $200, despite my protracted attempts to explain to the airline that I did not have $200, and would run out of money within a day. "That's not our problem" was the helpful response from the people at DELTA AIRLINES. Mind you, I was not asking them to waive the penalty; I was merely asking them to bill the penalty to me, given that I already had a return ticket in my possession, and no way to pay a penalty until my return home. So after DELTA AIRLINE's extremely helpful staff told me to pay up or stay in Italy, I went to my ATM machine, requested $200 from an account that had NOTHING in it, and surprisingly, got $200. I paid for my ticket, went back to Milan, and flew home the next day. When I got back home, the $200 I withdrew from an empty account caused the bank to assess fees against me, which snowballed and snowballed and snowballed into several hundred dollars in fees, due to outstanding checks coming in to a drained account.

So that was a pretty good morning in Venice.

Waking up early, the sun is shining, then going online and on the phone to find out that Pixies tickets for both Vancouver shows sell out almost instantly and Victoria tickets are sold out within minutes too. That's how a shite day starts. :nonono:
