Most laughable "death scene" :headoff: :lol:

What I mean is, a death scene in movie and/or TV that's so overwrought, over the top, or lame, it made you laugh uncontrollably...

The reason I bring this up is, a few days back my mom was watching "Final Destination 2" and I caught the scene where the big highway accident is supposed to happen. It was just so over the top (log tree through windsheild, water bottle under brake pad, just plain stupid shit, etc), I about busted a gut. That doesn't mean I'm sick...does it?

I saw the first Final Destination and I was a bit put off by the elaborate deaths also (though said deaths were undoubtedly the only reason enough people liked the first one enough to justify a sequel). The whole point was that deaths in remarkably complex and coincidental ways are not really coincidental at all, and I got a lot of great laughs out of the movie. Just when you think someone is going to die a certain way, you spot some other bit of the mise-en-scene that's gonna deliver the fatal blow--but suddenly everything in the scene works toward a fantastical and frankly unrealistic death. For example, I think there was a scene in which a woman was chopping food with a knife, so you think that's how she'll go...but then you also see water creeping along the kitchen floor...and a potentially dangerous electrical device...and the gas stove is also on, etc. Then WHAM! FUCK! it all contributes to her demise and she practically gets killed 5 times before she even hits the floor. Now that I think of it, no wonder I laughed so much.

just watched Groundhog Day, the way that guy killed himself was cute.

watch the german slasher-flick burning moon. it's 1 and a half hours of over-the-top-death. and the lines, translated from german, are hysterical. me and my friend tried to get extra credit by showing scenes from it in our high school german class... boy, did that go over well!

The deaths in Kill Bill Vol. 1 were some of the funnisest I have seen in a long time, especially when Uma Thurman cut the head off that guy on O-ren Ishii's table; the stream of blood was classic.

i do not think that means what you think it means...

The guy who Kevin Costner throws off the roof in The Untouchables, his whole fall looks abysmally fake even for 1987 technology (I think I brought this up already, but it bears repeating). It doesn't help to know that the real guy that was based on actually took over for Capone while he was in jail. Guess the screenwriters needed a good "throwing someone off the top of a building, and making it look real fake" scene to pad out the ending :p

Good points on that one Tabsy, the big reason I like that scene is cause it really shows how tempting it might be to cross the line between right and wrong for some people.
