Stems from when Leeds fans decided to rearrange Bournemouth Town Centre a few years back. You'd have thought the locals would appreciate all the construction and glazier jobs that arose from the day, but apparently not !

Yep, I know, hence the italicisation of possibly. I've got a vid with all the news footage somewhere - makes for quality viewing! Leeds planned that one better than the D-Day landings.

Forgive my ignorance, but why Bournemouth? Now Portsmouth I could understand, but surely Bournemouth - hardly a club with a "prominents" reputation, and a town full of newly weds and nearly deads - is a bit of a soft target?

Or is that precisely why the hard men of Elland Road chose it, do you think? (NB - I recall being handed BNP literature outside Elland Road on a visit there in 1989/90, the useless bastards...)

The game was played on May Bank Holiday. Absolutely perfect for an away jolly I'd have thought (can't say the same about Pompey).

I must be Victorian dad or somethin, £30 - 50 a week pocket money ? The little cunt'd be apprenticed come the end of the season, plus he'd rue the day if he mentioned cricket. Is that really the going rate for an 11 year olds allowance ? Our kids got four lads, they get wind of this he'll be fuckin ruined .

C'mon, beer and fags ain't cheap these days. Not even in Yorkshire (or Shropshire). And if the little lad fancies a bit of Bolivian one week, or a brass, then that's his entire pocket money gone in one hit! :eek3:

Then it's back onto selling E's at school:D

Well 'round here he'd have to economise, drink Mild, roll ups only, a bit of beak as a birthday treat and a proper girlfriend to have his kids, he could save the rest for the flat he'd have his name down for, obviously young Jodie-Michaela ( 13 ) would want a decent bit of furniture and some Ikea frames for t'Leeds team photos and scan of t'baby. Must'nt spoil 'em Jarvo, never 'preciate Social engineering otherwise

Sorry, mate, but I live(d) on the Shropshire/Staffs border, and if you choose a Premiership side over Stoke/ Crewe/Shrews/Vale/Telford and you're from Salop, you're a gloryhunter (presumably he started supporting 'em before they made thmeselves relegation certs.???).

(Thanks for that, Shug!)...Though I have just heard that if Mr Gray goes, Leeds are gonna try and poach 'Triffic Tony Pulis from the mighty Potters.

Ooops: forgive my ignorance - I lived in Harrogate for a while, and that was North Yorkshire so I just assumed that Leeds (only a little bit south) was also classified thus!! Guess I'm just a fuckwit from Stoke, then!!

Oh, no facts in my lectures - I just make stuff up - it is film studies, after all!

The Bournemouth game was the game that Leeds knew would send them up if they won, add to that, as Al says, it was a Bank Holiday and you had thousands going down on a celebratory piss up that got a bit out of hand.

Following day, back page of the News of the World : LEEDS SCUM ARE BACK

My boss at that time lived in Bournemouth, came into work the following week all stroppy cos his Mrs had been locked into Sainsburys for an hour while the ob tried to make the area safe!. Somehow he thought this was all my fault.

That little lad is called Ricky. When I go home to Cheshire [another glory hunter I'm afraid] I jump on the Shropshire Supporters Club bus as it heads North. He's a scally in the making. Last time I saw him was at the Blackburn game at Easter, in the pub before hand he got into full fisticuffs with another kid and left him in tears!.

Ricky! Rocky more like.:boxer: To be fair he is hardly going to know any better spending his time with the neanderthals that follow Leeds.;) I remember Leeds came to Celtic Park in 1998 and the casuals were trying to intimidate and harrass scarfers outside the stadium. I was with my missus and 4 year old daughter and they were giving us plenty of verbal. :nonono:

Apologies for that John, shouldn't have happened. Unfortunately there is still an element of the 'no surrender' muppet brigade at Leeds who will react to anything they consider to be outside their bigoted view of the world e.g. Irish/Catholic. Went to that game in 98 and we had a good laugh with all the Celtic fans we met in bars before and after the game. To think we won that game, would be lucky to keep the score below 5 nowa days.
