i just got a dodgy MP3 copy of the new Streets album. I think it's really good. I'm a bit surprised, i suspected Mike Skinner only had one good album in him but this one's as good as the first. More of the same but catchy and bit darker. I love listening to his stories. Very honest, very real. Unfortunately not out until the 18th in the States (same day as Morrissey's next)
Any other Streets fans? Anyone want to trade their "All Got Our Runins EP"?
I bought the "Fit But You Know It" CD single the other day. Catchy as f*ck. I'll buy the album, its released on Monday. Has had excellent reviews in the music press.
That latest single IS catchy as fuck. Note the guitar riffs straight from Bowie's Jene Genie
It's ok, but I think they've been totally bummed up as usual, Radio 1 are all out ass licking at the moment. I can't see it masel.
He's gone for a bit of a concept album, hasn't he? Every track tells a story in the protagonist's life.
Ben Elton could put it on the stage! 
I thought 'Fit but you know it' was a pile of shite. Reminds me of Blur's worst Mockneyisms. Heard something off the new one last night which was good.
Mike Skinner reminds me of one of those wannabee-yobs you see sitting outside a pub in the summer with all his mates, swearing loudly & shouting derogatory comments at passing females.
Still, people like his music though (Lord knows why), despite the fact that he's an absolute benny. Skinner was in the news recently crowing about wanting to get hold of & try some new drug that's come out (can't remember the name). That smacked of him trying to be "trendy", & it was also a bloody cretinous thing of him to say that he's done almost every drug going. Hopefully he'll take something soon that will kill off his brain cells so bad, he won't be able to make any more shitty music.
The Streets has to be the worst 'music' I have ever had to endure. I didn't like them much, but when I had to stand and watch them live before Doves came on at the Leeds festival I was stunned by the utter shittyness.

when he supported massive attack in bristol last year he was very good, though marred by shite sound system. top bloke - was encouraging all the girls to get them out. great bit of blokey festical crwod working type behaviour!

Loved Original Pirate Material and his new single is quality too. Got tix for his Brixton gig in a couple of weeks, Mickey Way coming along too. Saw him at a Festival in Berlin last year and he knows how to work a crowd, not sure the Germans knew what to make of his, ahem, style tho'!.
The geezers clearly made a lot of dough in the last few years, so what if he chooses to spend it on thrill-pills?, that's his choice. Hasn't effected his ability to write a good choon.

The new album is really good. I'm not surprised that the people on this forum have said it's shit without even hearing it. Fit But You Know It is definitely not the best song on the album and doesn't really fit the tone of the LP very well. To each their own though, it takes all kinds to make the world go round.

I think I recall something from them being played on the televisions in my electronics department last year...but can't remember...

I'm glad to see the Streets have travelled well, cos MS is so quintessentially Eng-er-lish - singing about Stella and Red Stripe and rows down the boozer and what-have-you. Sort of a Madness for the nu-generation, and they never travelled beyond this shores ... did they?

After all the furore I downloaded this last night and listened to it on the way into work this morning. Sadly, "Fit But You Know It" is the only stand-out song on first listen. Needs a few more plays but it's not as obvious or catchy as Original Pirate Material.

Madness were big down here at the time. Think there may have been some touring also.
I listened to the first Streets' album a fair bit and found it amusing and fresh. Not the sort of thing I'd go back to often, mind. Bit of a novelty.
