QF if yer lucky.

You's heard it HERE first:D

Quite surprised he didn't take one from Smith/Defoe but he has opted for both King/Neville, who are surely both just 'utility' players.

I'd have gone with a fifth striker, and just one of the utility players. Though don't ask me which.

Perhaps take 'em both and ditch Butt for Smith? Carragher can fill either full back berth.

I know it wont happen, but i would like to see sven try a 3-5-2.

James in Goal, Terry, Campbell and Neville at the back. Bridge/Cole left wing back, gerrard at right wing back, beckham and lampard with scholes in front in midfield and owen and rooney up front.

Surely the reign of terror of graham taylor taught us to play our best players rather than the best formation?

I was a bit disaoppinted that scott parker didnt get in, but other than that i think he made, as usual, the right decision.

Shug Sludden, scourge of every Englishman who frequents NOOL.

BTW - congrats to Shrewsbury for regaining their league status: it just wasn't the same without 'em...

Too true

One of, if not the, most entertaining editions of 606 on five live was a year ago when the programme was bombarded with distrught shrewsbury fans.

Sticking Gerrard at wing back would be a criminal waste of Europe's best midfielder.

I do see where your coming from, but i'm trying to find a place for lampard and scholes. If it comes to a 2 out of lampard, gerrard and scholes then for me, scholes would have to go. Cole and bridge alternating between left defence and midfield.

Play three centre-halves who are all used to playing in back fours for their clubs? It's not really on, is it? Might as well play to our strenghts, given the choice.

I'm a big fan of 4-4-2, just a shame we haven't got an outstanding left-sided midfield to fill that berth. If only Giggs was English, we'd be sorted.

Worth a shot in a friendly, just to see if it works. I honeslty cant say whether it would be effective or not having not seen a england 3-5-2 since the days of hoddle.

Sven really should give both bridge and cole a shot on the left. They werent THAT bad against macedonia, when everyone was terrible.

Predictable really. Still struggle to see the warrant behind including Joe Cole, has done nothing to impress me since day 1 (like Ronaldo for United - one trick pony who buckles under the slightest hint of a clean tackle). Also, would hate to see what would happen if the first 2 'keepers get injured - have you seen Spurs' "goals against" column this season?!

On a positive note, I'm confident Terry will be to this year's Championships what Ferdinand was to the World Cup 2 years ago. His European performances this year have been outstanding.

Gonna have to agree with Shug (unfortunately) - quarters at best.

And who would you be blaming for the Spurs "goals against" column? ;)

Good to see Terry & Lampard have made the cut,but Vassell over Smith? bad call that,i just hope we dont regret it. Wouldnt have took Heskey either.

Vassell's always performed for England, I'd sooner see him come on from the bench against tired legs than Smith. Can't see Smith ever getting near Vassell's international goalscoring record. I'd have taken Smith before Butt though. Who's he actually challenging for a spot? Hasn't Phil Neville started ahead of him in mid-field this year. Wouldn't think he'd be much threat from the bench either. Smith and Vassell in tandem could be useful subs, a good combination of speed and aggression.

Never rated Smith, he's a liability, always more likely to spoil things for his team than to win something byindividual brilliance. Then again, I suppose Defoe has a similar streak. Heskey may be a donkey, but his physical presence will unsettle defences, even if it unsettles him more !

I'd cast doubts on Rooney's temprement to be honest. Not really played well this season. Played better in the Coca Cola advert!

The ability is there though, he hasn't looked out of place at this level so far.

I always said he'd never make it at the highest level. Ahem.
