a comeback for Morrisey?...

his new record is getting positive reviews in the USA, what is the reaction in England?

personally...i've never really decided just what to think of Morrisey, the Smiths are hard to ignore but his persona was often (usually) annoying, his cult of personality often creepy (at least in the USA, not sure if it is different in the UK)

... i sort of enjoyed how his career seemed to spiral down into a pool of arrogance and ego, but then you have to respect that he may have resurrected his career at this late of date, or has he?

It'll get good reviews because the hoarde of moz worshippers are now grown up and working in the media. So now he is everywhere.

I caught some of him playing on 'later... with jools holland last night' (where you play live [except if you are new order]) and the one song I saw didn't sound very together to me (band wise), needed more rehearsal.

Still a million times better than that old woman in a nighty warbling on and gurning at the camera. who the hell was that and what the hell was that doing on tv?

He's currently number 3 in our charts and featured on last night's Top Of The Pops. Currently has a higher profile than New Order have probably ever managed.

The new album is alright, but not half as good as the underrated Maladjusted, which remains my favourite. Though there's interesting stuff in the instrumentation, there's a lack of effective melody, there's not a song like Roy's Keen here... Some great lyrics though...

Best thing he's done in ten years methinks, and damn good lyrics as well, sorts of reconcile you with record buying people with a song including "Oliver Cromwell" reaches number three.

BTW whos penned the music this time?

Have not heard it. I own one Smiths album, RANK. Should have gotten is Murder 20 years ago it seems....Never cared for his solo whining.
