Newbie needing help

Hi, everyone, just joined New Order Online, looks great, BTW, but I'm having some trouble with the editing bit.

Could a moderator or someone please tell me how I can get an avatar, as everytime I put a weblink in the avatar column it says something in red about it not being correct or something... This is also preventing me from setting a nickname, signature, etc as the avatar bit keeps failing everything.

Welcome Jesse, I don't know why you keep getting error messages about the URL, I guess you checked it's correct. Anyway I think you can change all the other settings and leave the avatar field blank and then come back to set it as you've solved your problem.

Hi Mick, I tried doing as you suggested but this message came up:

The following errors occured when saving your options You must enter a GIF or JPG file as URL for your avatar only

I don't know if it's a fault with my computer or whatever, but if someone knows something else I can try I'd be very grateful. Thanks :)

And i could do with a bit of help as well.

My signature is hopelessly out of date, and everytime i got to change it, i cant! It says something about my avatar, i put in a weblink (like i did with my old avatars) and it still doesnt let me.

It sounds like you might be putting your signature into your avatar quote by mistake,i think the majority of us have a problem with this kind of thing from time to time.

To put in your avatar the pictures' file name must end with .gif or .jpg, any other file type won't work. Good luck.

I am only trying with gif & jpeg files, but it makes no difference, still doesn't work. If it works for most of the members I guess it's probably a problem with my computer :(

Oh cool, my avatar is working now, I think it's because I wasn't putting http:// in front of the weblink.

I still can't do anything to change my nickname or signature though...
