Just got back from the final night at the Brixton Academy, and can't say I was all that impressed. Lousy sound, and some really slipshod playing. More bum notes than Barney !

I completely forgot to tell you how amazing they were in their only gig in Brazil. The band played like they never took a 11-year break at all. Very good sound on all 28 (!) songs, great setlist too. The best gig I saw in the last two years or so.

Sorry to hear it wasn't a good one Tim, they were pretty tight on Thursday night - like I said, Black gave it as good as he did back in '89-'90 (ok, I'm taking the bootlegs as a reference point!). There were rumours they were gonna pull summat special out the bag for the final night... Pity it wasn't the case.

Maybe they did for the encores, we didn't hang around for them, as we didn't fancy battling it out with 4500 other people tryig to get on the bloody tube !

Never had any time for the Pixies first time around. Looked down on all that Indie shite from about 88 onwards when dance muzak gripped the yoot of this country. Closest I ever came to seeing 'em was being with mates going to see them in Brixton, drinking in the Prince of Wales, when another group of us were off to see Flaaaard Up at the Fridge that night instead.

Have to say though, I'm a convert after Brixton. Tame and Debaser are two of the biggest f'off chooons anyone's got in their armoury and the likes of Gigantic, Where is my Mind, Wave of Mutilation and Here Comes Your Man just ooze class. Had never even heard Into The White before these gigs, never knew of its existence, but can't get it outta me head since and am even playing it on MP3 as I type this, humming along quite merrily. Superbly mesmerising track.

Shame I was such a musical snob first time round really.

I bought one of the official DiscLive CDs (Saskatoon, 17/04/2004) and got a few other gigs at Sharing The Groove. The recordings do not compare to the actual experience of being there, no matter how well recorded, but if someone is interested just drop me a mail.

i got saskatoon too! (will send it to you tim) & the 1st two brixtons.

they were almost as good as they were back in the day - a shame the set list consisted of mostly the mini lp & 1st 2 lps proper...

in paris they played gigantic, velouria & u mass in a row - simply awesome.

al - into the white is on the b sides album i gave you - also check out is she weird for similar...

now, anyone got that new song on i-tunes they can send me?

11 year break? longer than that in the uk! I hadnt seen them since the bossanova tour!

brixton should have been a good one, well it was pretty

well damn near perfect in 90 - 91 , from memory they

played nearly every song they had ever written that night
