Will Steve Coogan make it as a star in America?

I believe that he wont. Not that i know anything about the movie industry.

On a semi related note Andy Serkis, more commonly known as Gollum, or Martin Hannett, has been cast to play King Kong in Jacksons upcoming film.

i think it depends how well the movie does over here. if it bombs he'll fade into obscurity, but if it does well he could become more famous. i don't think the film's going to make much money, though.

on a related note, graham norton's getting his own show on comedy central. it's about time!

Who knows what will happen,its gonna be marketed as a big summer blockbuster so he may do. Although it seems unless your names Hugh Grant you never hit the big time stateside if youre a brit. Look at Gary Oldman,hes a very good actor but hasnt done anything major since Leon,except 10mins in Harry Potter.

its one of the most expensivew movies...i hope it does well... it looks good...

It's a hyped up "Jackie Chan" movie, so nobody who goes will give 2 shits about him

It's the Jackie Chan Show, with Steve along for the ride. I probably will avoid it because it's Disney (filthy commercial facists), but whether or not it makes him a star here is doubtful.

Perhaps if he played "Amusing Sidekick" in the next Ah-nuld or Sly Stallone actioner....nah!

Wouldn't mind it in the least if he did become a recognizable face over here, but in an age where "reality" contestants and Jessica Simpson are shoved in our face, it all might just get lost in the shuffle of Hollywood stupidity.

I think it's a damn shame that, though Coogan has the main part in the movie, he has to take second billing to Chan just because he isn't established in Hollywood yet.

Looks a good film though, saw a trailer for it before Harry Potter 3, seems like a larf.

Watched an episode of 'I'm Alan Partridge' on UKTV Gold last night, hands down, that's the best thing he's ever done. I have to get all the BBC Brit-com DVDs when I move to the States...

My local paper reviewed this movie today, and actually focused more on Coogan than Chan!

Maybe American movie goers can get some CLASS from an otherwise mediocre movie

I'd rather Coogan not be a star over here, considering that people like Julia Roberts, Arnold "The Governator" Schwartzanegger, and Paris "Talentless twat" Hilton are stars or celebrities - whatever word you prefer.

aside from 80 days, i saw him in another newly released movie on video/dvd or in the theatres, but cant remember what.

well, i think the question's answered. the film opened at #9 to terrible reviews and has only taken in just over $10 million in it's first week. oops.
