Force.
Live in America - although it's a compilation - would've been no.1 if it had been included.
To Each shades it from Graveyard. Force and Sextet are also v. wonderful. I've never understood the complaints about MH's production on To Each - my vinyl sounds crisp and thunderously funky and the atmospherics add a nice amount of tension.
The Ballroom side of G&B is immense - best moments a)the intro to All Night Party - crackling, random thuds, the sound of a jack being plugged in, Topping mutters something and then WHOOAA! Dojo's ridiculously fast drumming launches them headlong into the song b) 'That sounds like Joy Division doesn't it' - ST's sarcy comment after one song (can't remember exactly which one)
Sextet, followed by ACR:MCR which is a compilation. Its the 12" versions taken from the Good Together album.
In total agreement with Al on this one - the live album is excellent and "Force" was the first one I actually bought.
I also really like "Good Together" - mainly because of what was going on at the time...!!!
Chris :)
Of the Factory era stuff, never found Sextet, so my vote'll go to Force. Have also never seen any of the A&M stuff either.
Love the Live In America album, reported last year that I saw a used vinyl copy of said album, in fairly poor shape, going for 20 bucks.
According to Amazon the newly remastered Sextet will be available on the 12th July. Good news indeed.![]()

Ordering NOW!

No tracklisting either. Should be one or two extras hopefully.
The bonus tracks are Waterline/Funuzeakea from FAC 52
I assumed that everyone would vote for the first 3 ACR albums. Flight is great, but (for those who voted for it)what is it that makes it better than the earlier ones for you?
Nothing wrong with the first three albums but IMO Force and Wild Party was their peak. Used to play the Guess Who? 12inch to death and the Waterline 12inch as well. Would be nice to hear some new stuff though.
this thread needs to be revived.
my vote goes for the graveyard and the ballroom, because it is essentially all i know by ACR.
flight is definately my favourite tune.
Although I have liked ACR ever since I've became to like New Order it is their later work that is absolutely brilliant! They came up with a unique sound in the early days but failed to develope it during their Factory days. Good together on A&M was a huge step forward but I especially liked the two albums that came after that ACR:MCR and Up in Downsville!!!
I'd love to hear some new stuff by those guys!!! ![]()
'Sextet' shades it for me, closely followed by 'Graveyard'. 'Force' is good but a little too clean (dare I mention Level 42 here?). When I DJ'ed I used to play 'Waterline'
. Mickey Way', 'Need someone tonight' and 'Shack Up' (not altogether obviously) and got a great response everytime - though Waterline was a bit on the long side for sensitive ears at that volume. The live in America lp is also very very good.
