Probably gonna suck. But who knows. All the other Alien movies have had great directors, and all the Predator ones have had crap directors. Besides, the only way aliens could even have a chance against a predator would be smarming in huge numbers, which I guess they seem to do.

Don't get me wrong. The first Predator movie is one of my favorite action movies, but the Alien films have a much more sophisticated feel to them. Perhaps because Arnold isn't running around killing the entire Bolivian army, trying to pronounce one-liners on the run, or picking up small trucks and quarries and things.

Alien 3 & 4 weren't exactly super movies...

Can't actually believe the 4th one was directed by the same guy who did Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain

Being a fan of the 1st 2 films in the Aliens series & the 1st Predator, I look forward to seeing this. I notice from the trailer a couple of nods to previous films; Lance Henriksen (Bishop) is in the new one, and the guy referring to the Predator as "you ugly son of a..." is similar to Arnie's "you're one ugly mutherfucker!"

but didn't that get repeated in the second Predator...when Glover sees the Predator...only the Predator finishes his sentance for him???

Indeed it did, I'd forgotten that. Obviously the 2nd film didn't have the same lasting impression on me as the first one. Those one-liners don't have the same impact unless delivered by the governor himself!

Alien 3 was directed by David Fincher(Se7en, The GameFight Club). It's actually my fave Alien movie (i dont like any of the other ones) and the fourth one was indeed directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Actually I think the atmosphere of Alien 4 is quite close to Jeunet's previous films (Delicatessen, the City of Lost Children).

Indeed, the inclusion of Ron Perlman (of "City of Lost Children") is a good tip-off. Alien 4 certainly has the same visual style as Jeunet's other films; as he said in an interview, since he was a director-for-hire on that film, he tried to put at least one personal touch in every shot to keep himself interested in the project. Anyway, I agree that neither the 3rd or 4th ones are all that good, but they both have excellent directors who were simply out of their element. For Jeunet, it was his first English-language Hollywood film, so that must have been difficult; same goes with Fincher, who apparently had a huge struggle with the producers the whole time and it's a miracle that the film even got made (it was supposed to have a much more bizarre and original storyline/setting, but the stupid Hollywood producers scrapped the idea after dozens of script rewrites). Anyway, they both went on to bigger and better things.
