I don't have any superstitions, it's bad luck.
But I think there's something to the Friday 13th theory. At work after midnight on 12th/13th of this month everything started to go spectacularly tits-up. Machines acting up, me walking into things (this should not happen while sober), getting a nasty burn etc. Then that afternoon I had 2 fairly close calls while driving, due to idiots not knowing how roundabouts work. ![]()
At least we're finished with Friday 13ths for this year, the next one's May 2005.
I'm fairly superstitious. Mine are all the usual ones, like single magpies, Friday 13th (I've found that not too much goes wrong if you don't worry about it, though), walking under ladders and passing people on the stairs.

the above plus don't walk on 3 drains. a bloke from birmingham told me that one when i was about 20, and i've avoided it since. wonder how many times i walked on 3 drains before then without incurring any bad luck...?
I know that a big family at the front of a mc Donalds counter is gonna fuck it up for everyone.
I know that anyone driving a large SUV aint gonna see me.
I was never superstitious growing up, but I've become a bit moreso lately. Mostly involving dreams and things. Whenever my daily life starts to resemble my nightmares, I tend to get a bit edgy, and sometimes someone will talk about something and then I'll get into a paranoid mood the rest of the day in case it happens. Case in point: it was raining one night and a friend of mine said that your chance of getting in an auto accident goes up 70% when it rains...and then about 10 minutes later I got into an accident. Although the longer version of the story is funnier since I ended up backing into a menu sign at Burger King.

I know it's useless to try to walk in the aisles of an IHOP ( the restaurant where everyone weighs 200 pounds more than you do).
None here. In fact, I had to stifle a laugh when I was working in a restaurant one time about Friday the 13th. I was on the phone, taking a reservation from a church group, speaking to the pastor, and I went over the details with him one last time before he hung up the phone. "Okay, there will be 10 people in your party next Friday, the 13th........." at which point he cut me off and said "DON'T even say that out loud, it's gonna cause trouble!!!!" Ooooohkay, if you say so ![]()
Also, I was making a delivery to a Chinese restaurant earlier this year, gave the middle aged man the invoice and a pen with red ink to sign it. He took one look at the ink and refused to sign the invoice with that pen. "Red is very bad luck, the color of death".
Yeeeaaaahhhhhhh, I've been using this kind of pen for a couple of years, it hasn't killed me yet. Sheesh. ![]()
Here are my superstitions.
Avoid all ouji boards (sp) Avoid tarrot cards Do not participate in anything Satanic Exorcism is the only physical proof that we have that could verify the existence of God Remmeber the laws of karma
In high school I did a lot of drinking and shafting in cemetaries so those places do not freak me but in general do not mess with the dead--entertaining them is ok and do not fuck with God. remember satan is just another overbearing asshole that wants to control you.
i do have a LOT. ![]()
it could take forever to write them down. ![]()
i´ll mention just a couple: constantly knock on wood when something "bad" is said, i don´t wear anything yellow when on stage, i don´t name certain "bad luck people" and if someone says one of those names i make errr ehem quite a few things to make the bad luck disappear... ![]()
and of course the ladders and the black cats and the umbrellas and all that. just to name a few, i have a lot more.... ![]()

A menu sign at burger king? worked out alright then?
My missus does that single magpie one!
We were driving in the car the other day when she shrieked and said something about there only being one magpie, I replied sarcastically "ach that means we're gonna crash and die"
Let's just say she was not amused by my humour![]()
Mrs garymac salutes a single magpie , our kid won't take the third light from a match/lighter . Meself I think it's a loada bollox , fingers crossed .![]()
If I see a single magpie, I have too quickly look away and look again to tell myself its two. Nothing too bads happened so far so it must work.
I guess the Karma thing these days is my biggest superstition.I try not to do anything bad to someone who doesnt deserve it because ill most def get my comeuppance. But if they deserve to be treated bad then that`s another thing!.
Find it interesting that people in high positions (work or whatever) never realise that treating people bad is gonna come back on them one day.

Dont try it crossin the road , lookin back again may reveal the large truck that has made the now evilly cackling magpie fly away , just a thought .:(

A menu sign at burger king? worked out alright then? Yeah, it was quite funny, despite the large dent in my car. My friend wanted an ice cream cone, but then realized after we ordered that he had no money. So I backed out of the drive-thru, but it was raining so hard that I didn't see the menu sign and crashed into it, bending the hell out of that thing. Then we drove away really fast and minutes later my friend discovered that he'd had some money for an ice cream after all. And then I yelled some very filthy words at him.
