I can't believe no one has mentioned this. so if you don't mind people invading your privacy by reading all the emails you send and recieve go ahead and sign up.This is why i'm not signing up for this shit.
You have a point. I was on ziplip, which was a "secure" provider - even had the https thing going on. Then I realised that matters diddly squat to anyone who really wanted to read my email, and ziplip was very very slow, and just 2.5mb.
If anyone really wants to read your email, they proberbally can. if the state decide to, they will. Chances are, they wont be bothered, and if they could be bothered, you should really be more careful with how you communicate
Google screen for certain words to place ads in the corner of the page. Talking about a certain film with a mate? then they will offer to sell it to you, or amazon will. This beats spam or small inboxes anyhow. As far as im aware, the US governmnet uses similar screening technologies, which proberbally "read" passively this site too. On Mayday in 98 i think, there was a campaign to shut down cia servers for a few days - which basically involved everyone who had the inclination to, writing "communist, terrorist, etc" at the bottom of an email - it worked too.
So : if you want to express your heartfelt meaning toward a girl, or bring down the state, or - preferbaly - both, dont email.
If you want to email your friend on holiday, or organise a get together - use GMAIL, or EMAIL - theres not a big "security" difference between the 2
