Chesterfield: SECOND in the Coca-Cola League One! Who'd have thunk it? Certainly not those bastards at Sky Sports, who barely remember to ever mention the Spireites, let alone show a live match every now & again. Only Huddersfield Manager Peter Jackson begrudgingly gave Chesterfield any credit after last nights televised Hull-Bradford game (there was only two League One matches last night, & it was obvious the one at the nice stadium would be shown live).

I think it's pretty good that we came from 2-0 down on Saturday to win 3-2 away (& our away form was awful last season) at a club who were in the Premiership not long ago, whereas the Sky presenters would much rather dwell on Bradford going to promotion-fancied Hull City last night & scraping a 1-0 win. There's an anti-Chesterfield bias in the media, & it ought to be stamped out! :(

Perhaps if we ever get the move to the spanking new ground Sky will occasionally show a live Chesterfield game, after all, Saltergate is probably the shittiest stadium in League One. I'm just pleased that a team everyone has picked for relegation has surprised so many people already, I might write to the Football League & ask them to end the League One season now, so that CFC will get automatic promotion! ;)

Congrats to Roy McFarland & the boys though, & keep up the good work; Roy, I know you're a Derby County failure & a Neil Warnock wannabe, but well done, nonetheless. It'd be a real shot in the arm if we could get promoted to the Championship/Division 1 for the first time ever, tho' there's still 40-odd games to go so let's not hold our breath just yet...

On a different note: good to see Wayne Rooney decided to move to a club that will actually win something. Just a shame he has to now go to work in England's Crud Bucket. Also, I hope Sir Bobby gets a decent job somewhere soon, the man is a superstar.

You've got a short memory Jimbo. The media were up Chesterfield's arse only a few seasons ago after that Cup run. You can't blame them for showing Hull against Bradford, particularly as the Sky cameras had been there the day before for the Rugby League Hull/Bradford match, everything was already set up for them. The KC Stadium is a fantastic sporting arena, and on paper up-and-coming Hull against struggling Bradford had the makings of a goal fest. The only goal of the game was a corker though, wasn't it ?

Chesterfield have certainly started well, as have Colchester and a couple of other sides. A long season ahead though !

I'll take this opportunity to jump on the bandwagon as well: Stoke City?? Joint top of the "Championship"???? Undefeated after 6 games???? Having spent no money?????

Hey - we can't bear grudges with Chesterfield (Palace, Pompey, Reading, Orient - yes!).

We beat them to the championship fair and square - although the following season their fans still hadn't worked out that even if they hadn't been deducted points we would have still been champions!

Anyway - I think it was the personnel at the time who were the real criminals and I shall always hate Nicky Law more than Chesterfield FC.

Good luck to the Spireites - until we have to play them again, obviously...!!!

I remember the glory days of the 1997 FA Cup run, wasn't it the Daily Mirror who had the whole squad on the front & back pages on the day of the Middlesbrough match? But what have the media done for the Spireites since then? Bog all, that's what.

We've been through some tough times since then, too, the financial difficulties, dodgy chairman, not to mention that parasite Nicky Law ditching us for Bradford (I'm so glad he's done crap ever since leaving CFC) & the plank Dave Rushbury being promoted from physio to manager. I hoped the party atmosphere at our last home game of last season against Luton was the start of a brighter era for Chesterfield, & it looks like I could be right.

The Bradford goal yesterday was an absolute corker, though, I don't mind admitting. The KC Stadium looks possibly the nicest in League One, I suppose I don't blame the glamour-&-glitz-obsessed Sky Sports for leaving their cameras there from the previous day. And I bet I'm not the only football fan who laments his side never being on the telly: at least crappy Mansfield Town never get on either!

Good for Luton is what I say, they've been piddling about in the lower leagues for far too long now. I still remember when they used to be a reasonably formidable Division One side (Div.1 as in the old Premiership, not the current Championship) Like Chesterfield in second place though, it's gonna take a lot of hard work for the Hatters to maintain position #1 over the coming months...

Still beat you on the last day of the 03/04 season though, didn't we? Actually, the Luton supporters were very gracious after the match, some even stuck around to watch us invade the pitch & congratulate the CFC boys on yet another great escape. Good bunch, the Luton supporters.
