Saw them at V - a nice noise for a Sunday lunchtime.
They've been getting a lot of favourable press for a few months:
Jul 2004 Like the kid brothers of The Cooper Temple Clause more interested in reviving the sound of the Stones Roses’ anthemic ‘Begging You’ than tweaking their well coiffeured heads, Kasabian blast through thirteen tracks on their debut, self-titled album like a gang of pumped up stormtroopers with a penchant for aggro.
Kicking off with the warmongering blast of ‘Club Foot’, the Leicestershire mob seem intent on making a record that will soundtrack every drug-fuelled rampage for the remainder of the decade. The magnificent ‘Processed Beats’, forceful ‘Reason Is Treason’ and baggy-aping ‘L.S.F.’ are already familiar and are joined by a host of other equally thrilling new tunes. ‘I.D.’ is bass heavy indie-dance, ‘Test Transmission’ all backward guitar and space rock and closer ‘U.Boat’ effective, moody and quite brilliant.
Kasabian are as cocky as Oasis, as party-inducing as the Mondays and as inventive as Primal Scream, in short they are set to be huge. Stay out of their line of fire though, ‘cause these boys have a deadly arsenal.
