Re-merge BCD with Off Topic Music?

I used to quite like reading the stuff that now goes in the sound of music and it used to keep this place buzzing. I hardly ever visit The Sound of music and this place has stagnated since they were split. It needs more traffic through it to keep it vibrant.

Yes, definitely axe 'The Sound Of Music' & merge it back with 'Behind Closed Doors'. 'TSOM' is a big bag of mule shit & has been from the start, nothing of any interest happens there, unless you count some boring fucker bringing up the subject of the latest in a long, turgid line of greasy-haired, shoe-gazing, bed-wetting "indie" bands like Kasabian, Keane, Razorlight or whoever the hell they are (Who cares? They all sound like unoriginal relics that make Oasis seem cutting-edge).

I remember when 'TSOM' first started, Spotnik posted a message saying that if the majority of NOOL members weren't bothered about a seperate music forum, then he'd axe it. Plenty of peeps replied saying 'TSOM' was unneccesery, but did he or any of the other moderators axe it? No, no, NO! They know best, don't they? Way to listen to your website's loyal membership, Nik.

I think that 'State Of The Nation' forum is rather pointless, too, though if my memory serves me correctly, Nik & the boys only began that because I kept posting too many daft polls in 'BHC'. Ah, them were t'days...

While yer at it Nick, you might as well trash the Weeding and True Faith ones that nobody knows about as well, as they are deader than Ian.

What we need is a Football (soccer, you know, the game we all love that Canada are shit at ) forum as well. Not really.

An abuse forum would be nice too!

RE MERGE please. I prefaired the old way. There isnt enough traffic to keep 2 off topic forums going. I dont want to come accross all cuntish - this is a great site - good work nic and co.

The only people who bother with the Sound of Music forum are the same people over and over and over. This whole site revolves around music, and having one forum for music separate from NO is a bit inane. Let all music be on the same forum. Now a forum for sports or politics would make more sense.

Actually, the music forum should have been merged with the Digital Republic forum, which was Sebastien's idea in the first place, but then again, what is and isn't on topic.

But I thought 'Digital Republic' was supposed to be for New Order & New Order-related projects only. Fairy nuff, if you want to merge that with 'TSOM', but the sensible thing to do would have been not to bother starting a seperate music forum in the first place.

Some days though, there isn't enough new and interesting stuff about New Order to even justify the site being up, so people have to find something to talk about, be it dredging up old threads, asking questions for the umpteenth time on subjects covered to death.

Inevitably as well, people are going to want to talk about other music, off-topic subjects, trading etc. New Order may have been the common bond that brought us all here in the first place, but the community has evolved from there.

Sure, I'd keep the Digital Republic, foreign language and Trading boards, but apart from that there is no real justification for several separate boards. Weekly Song Review, State of the Nation, The Sound of Music and Behind Closed Doors should all become one Off-Topic board IMHO.
