I feel safe in saying, unless there's some NOOlers in the panhandle or (god forbid) Alabama, I'm the only one who was affected by Ivan when it came ashore and kept going on further. Boy was that fun! ![]()
We got a shitload of rain about 6:30 last night, and were under a tornado watch until 3 A.M. Actually, we may have been clear long before that, but I had no way of knowing: At 9:30, the power went out for the whole town ![]()
Trust me when I say being stuck in a dark house with the uncertainty of how much time has passed and whether your part of the state is no longer under a tornado watch is pretty fucking awful. Just try going to sleep when the rain and wind is roaring outside.
But eventually things calmed down...not that I would know, because I passed out and woke up some hours later (11 A.M.). Our town actually got by okay; another town a few miles away got the tornado.
So I'm just hoping the hurricane season is over, but it's probably not. And the power came back on, so I get to watch P.J. O'Rourke on "Real Time with Bill Maher" tonight. At any rate, I'm just glad to be here.......................................(chunk of ceiling falls, ironically killing me just as I'm beginning to appreciate life again. Sure, I may have no chance for a love life, but I can still jerk myself. But now I'm dead
