Vibrating Sex Toy Shuts Down Airport

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) -- A scare triggered by a vibrating sex toy shut down a major Australian regional airport for almost an hour Monday, police said.

The vibrating object was discovered Monday morning inside a garbage can at the terminal cafeteria at Mackay Airport in Queensland state, a police spokeswoman said.

Cafeteria manager Lynne Bryant said her staff had been cleaning tables when they noticed a strange humming noise coming from the garbage can.

"It was rather disconcerting when the rubbish bin started humming furiously," Bryant said. "We called security and next minute everybody was being evacuated while they checked it out."

The police spokeswoman said the terminal was evacuated immediately. Passengers who had arrived on a recent flight, check-in staff, cafeteria employees and hire car personnel were all forced to leave.

"Another two flights were expected to land at that stage but alternate arrangements were made for the passengers to collect their luggage away from the terminal," the spokeswoman said on the usual condition of anonymity.

She said the emergency alert was canceled after 45 minutes when the package was identified as an adult sex toy.

Bryant said in retrospect, the humming sounded exactly like a vibrator, but it was better to be safe then sorry.

"You can't afford to take chances," Bryant said.

The cafeteria manager has some expertise in these sounds, one presumes then?

Nah, we are just paranoid that we will have a 9/11 scenario on home soil, although we had the Bali bombing 2 years ago, which killed 202 people, including 88 Aussies, and the Australian embassy in Jakarta was blown up 2 weeks ago and all that achieved was killing 8 innocent Indonesians. Stupid fucken terrosists, i guess those 8 people who died are just collateral damage to you.

The question (which I won't answer here) should be asked: Why did Australia, a country that untill quite recently was almost universaly liked, become a terrorist target?

Because your country dares to associate itself with the United States?

Because certain elements of the followers of Islam won't be happy until the caliphate is reestablished?

Because the west, in it's infinte wisdom, decided to establish a Jewish State smack dab in the middle of Arab lands?

Ahhh, could be all of the above!

Because your country dares to associate itself with the United States?

Or more specifically, the “war on terror”, aka a war that has done nothing but act as a mass recruiter for terrorist groups, and resulted in mass state terror

Because certain elements of the followers of Islam won't be happy until the caliphate is re-established:

Or more specifically, certain followers of Islam want to set up “one nation under a god”, and will too, if their friends in the western religious right have their way

Because the west, in it's infinte wisdom, decided to establish a Jewish State smack dab in the middle of Arab lands?

Or more specifically, one US backed, heavily armed, heavily reactionary religious state decide that the way to deal with acts of terror perpetrated on its soil by reactionary followers of another religion was not to isolate the terrorists, but to kill 7 times in vengeance, which in turn increases support for reactionary terrorists amongst the dispossessed (and leading the way for the rest of the west)

I think Australia joined the war because this country is terrified of being the only "white" western country in the asia/pacific region (apart from New Zealand, who did not sign up for this stupid fucken war). I think this is because Australia is a very young country and is therefore very insecure about itself (Australia is the size of America, but is only populated by twenty million people) and fuck knows why, this is a great, big(and i do mean big) country, that would be impossible to invade. The Japanese tried during the war (they bombed Darwin, killing 42 people and sent some mini-subs into Sydney harbour and all they managed to do was sink an empty ferry). I think the Goverment is scared that one day Indonesia (it's the biggest Islamic nation in the world; population 160 million) will launch an invasion or something, but they would never succeed, as soon as they hit the Simpson desert (4/5ths of Australia is desert) they would fall apart(the Aussie heat is a killer, seriously, i grew up in the Outback), but the Government still wants to support America, whatever stupid decisions they make (like Vietnam) so if we ever do suffer invasion from a foreign power, America will save us.

I bet the Bali bombings and the doings in the Philipines scare the Aussies.
