Well this is no suprise, and their tight-laced image is what helps them make so much money. If any author wants their book distributed in Walmart, then they should not put naked bodies.
Wal*Mart makes so much money is because they basically have a monopoly, at least around these parts.
There are 2 Supercenters within 10 minutes of here, and a third Wal*Mart is being converted into a Supercenter. Where does that leave other supermarkets around here, much less the Mom & Pop stores?
Maybe they should put a disclaimer on the cover of the book, then no one could yell out "Oh mah God! My Christian eyes! I am blinded, y'all!" :p

Wally World charges $5.87 USD for Winchester 22 Magnum cartridges. Scheels charges $4.99 USD for the same ammo. Plus Wal-Mart will only have one person at the gun counter while at Scheels they have MANY employees asking you if you need help with guns and gun accessories.

But then again, if you need a car battery at 3 am, Wal-Mart is the place. Yes, I speak from experience.
Yet, WalMart still sells those trashy Harlequin romance novels. I'm surprised those haven't offended anyone.
In an interesting twist, even though there've been a number of complaints about the high cost of CD's, Wal-Mart is seriously trying to bully the record companies into lowering their prices for CDs.
Won't bother me, since I hate Wal-Mart and never shop there, but could be sad day for people in places where the Wal-Mart has wiped out all competiton.
Besides, last time I was in one, they had a terrible selection of music anyway.

My problem with Walmart and their music is that if they get to sell their Top 40's music at rock bottom prices, then it will hurt decent music chain stores like Tower that actually have an adequate selection. If Walmart were to expand their selection, then it would be perfectly fine with me; screw the record companies.
The Stella at my ASDA ( part of the Wal Mart Family ) is cheap and the Curries are good, whats the problem ?
Ours have the "self check out." meaning that you can avoid the cashier and pay a machine. Most of the customers are as dumb and slow as the cashiers and not smart enough to use these autmated check outs. I save about 20 minutes using them.

3 months or something, there is another one about to be unionized, and I think a 2nd one is, but not in Quebec, in one of the western provinces.
And believe it or not, we have one unionized McDonald's and it's been for a full year.. each time one has been unionized, usually they close, or they hire new people just before the vote to make sure they vote no.
About this though, I don't understand why somebody would want to have a career at McDonald's...
Hey Nic, if it was a union job, and you could make a decent living off of it, I'm sure it might be an acceptable career! I mean, think about it, if you could make say, $35000 a year flipping burgers, and taking orders (bacause it was a Union shop) as opposed to making $15-20000 as a full time checker at Target or Wal-mart, which would YOU opt for?
Although it must not be that great an option, because all the McDonalds and Burger Kings are staffed by Mexicans. It's getting rather bad. I had to transtlate for an Anglo that was trying to locate a pair of shoes that his young daughter had left in the play area. I really don't mind anyone coming here to take a job, especially one that most of us would think was beneath us. But, if you are in the United States, and you are going to be dealing with the public, for the love of everything good in the world, learn the damn language!
Just do what I did: black out the justices' testicles 
Or sell it in a plastic wrapper, like when a book comes with a free CD and you don't want people stealing the CD out of it 
I don't know, I find the glut of O'Hannity stuff there offensive. Wonder if they'd consider stop selling that if I complained

Or the reverse. If you want to order, and if you want your order to be correct, learn the language. This summer at Dairy Queen, I'd serve a bunch of Puerto Ricans and, since one in the group could barely speak English, he'd have to translate their orders to me, but, often, the translations weren't right - like chocolate chips instead of a chocolate shell - and the customers would get pissed at me.
Oh, I didn't even think about that part, that would come up quite often as well. I'd be at the Guest Service Desk helping out, and I can't even try to remember the number of times that the first words from someone's mouth would be "habla espanol?"...
I don't quite follow the logic behind the United States bending over backwards to make sure that people who speak Spanish can do everything in this country without even having to speak English. Has any other wave of immigrants ever been so well served? I remember when we moved to Houston in 1976, there was a large group of Vietnamese immigrants that were settled in the nighborhood I lived in. After getting their housing arranged, the first thing they wanted to do was learn English. They would spend hours with any of us that would talk to them, so they could get to the point that they were at least fluent enough to have a conversation. It wasn't just the children, it was the adults as well.

Welcome to our reality Jeff... I'm pissed on daily basis that some people can live in Quebec without speaking french...
And I'm pissed to see new comers speaking english between each other instead of french.
Fortunately for us though, we learn english in school, though not everybody is able to speak it once school is finished...

I don't know if that's always the case. Where I worked, most of my co-workers were Cambodian or Vietnamese, and all of them spoke English quite well. The customers, however, don't. It kind of reminds me of a friend who worked at a movie theather in a Russian neighborhood in the city. He apparently lied that he was bilingial in Russian and English and was assigned to the ticket booth but was soon fired for obvious reasons. But, who would be seeing an American movie, without subtitles, if he can't understand English?
