Still crackin up at the rebirth of the "commie" word as thrown about recently on these pages. Especially when used to describe the conventional, dull-as-fuck American politician John Kerry.

So to our friends accross the pond....does New Order's participation in benefit gigs for the striking miners during the darkest days of Thatcher's 80's make them "commies" too?

Absolutely, and you are a Commie too, red as red can be. :p

People here use the word Commie as a jest; if you truly think people are being serious when they attach the word to liberals, then you are slower than a kid with Down's.

Personally think it's just mindless throwing about of labels as well; don't think they'll say the same thing about "The Boss" Springsteen as he helped out during the miners strike back then.

Springsteen isn't a Commie, just a washed up moron, like John Mellencamp. :evil4:

Karl Marx provides a great way to view the world. However, he offered no solution.

Maybe the crappy attitude in my post arises from what I see to be the ignorance of the person who started the thread. No need for you to be the PC police. At my age, having a kid is so far off my mind. Calm down, when I'm your age I probably won't make such comments.

Ignorance? I'd say that Grahame's the only person on this thread who's actually got a grip of reality -

It is my perceived notion that he is ignorant on the subject. The word now is a joke; it's been used in a Seinfeld episode where a little kid calls Jerry a commie. Also there is a difference between "commie" and "communist"; if I want to talk about Kerry, I use the word commie and people laugh. When talking about Nader, I have used the word "communist", and that does not usually cause laughs. Commie is a comical transformation of the serious political term.

Presumably you know what Freud said about jokes, right? Though perhaps he was a "commie", too????????

It's my "perceived notion" that there are a few too many American meat-heads on this site coming away with some choice comments/statements about the war on Iraq that the educated and informed majority who exist outwith the US find at best laughable and at worst offensive. Fuck all to do with been liberal, leftie "commie" or whatever.

By using that ridiculous word (commie) these people are further emphasising the stereotype of themselves as shit- for-brains, flag waving "good ol' boys."

And Tristan son, after you've learned some manners and respect for your elders do something with that fucking avatar cos it stops me scrolling down the screen properly.

American meatheads on this site... great stereotype there. You shouldn't be complaining about the usage of the word 'commie' then.

If the avatar prevents you from seeing this site in a proper manner, then I'll change it.
