The Obligatory "Halloween movies" thread

C'mon, you all knew this was coming, I just had the balls to post it

Okay, I have no intention of buying into the hype and renting a "scary movie" for Hallow's Eve, simply because it's a Sunday and that sorta takes the fun out of Halloween anyway. But for those of you sad enough to spend tonight in front of a TV, what would the board members recommend to make you "wet" yourselves with fright?

Ignoring the obvious (Olsen Twin Movies), I've compiled my own short list of "horror faves". Feel free to post yours...if you dare (spooky laughter):

The Thing (1982) - I still can't watch this one without my hands covering my face when it comes on TBS in heavily edited form. Imagine how I'd take the full-length gory version! (I also like the 1951 original, if you want something a little tamer by comparison. Not scary, but good)

Aliens (1986) - More action movie than the first one, but you can't tell me there's nothing more frightening than watching a film with Bill Pullman in it...or is it Bill Paxton?

Halloween (1978) - Honestly one of the best horror flicks I've ever seen that didn't rely solely on gore to get its point across (Sex when you're a teenager is bad...and leads to Communism).

The Sixth Sense (1999) - Yes, we all know the ending, and yes it's not scary. But still a little spooky to see Bruce Willis with hair.

The Shining (1980) - You know from the minute Jack Nicholson walks on screen, he's gonna go apeshit. But getting there's half the fun

Chairman of the Board (?) - Never seen it, but Carrot-Top is the star. That's all I need to know.

Police Academy (2-whatever last number was) - Once Guttenberg left, the series never recovered...

Good call Tabbsy!! This movie scared the LIVING shit outta me when it came out. I still get chills when I hear the theme music for this!!!!

There was some zombie film back in the early 80s I think, where some girl's boyfriend became a zombie, and wanted to eat her brains...

I always had fun with that line with the girl I saw the movie with.

Exorcist 3 with George C. Scott. the fast scenes of the decapitator tool. The weird dreams. The faces in paintings. That old woman on the ceiling. Freaky.

Howabout them Hellraiser movies? Those were ca-reepy!!

Yeah...but fucking entertaining as hell!! (No pun int.)

I love Carpenter's The Thing!!! Weirdly enough, I can watch the arms being bitten off, heads crawling away, dogs splitting apart, etc, with no problem, it's when they take the blood test and put the knife into the thumb to draw blood is when I cringe.

Saw part of Rob Zombie's movie, House Of 1000 Corpses, that looked kinda interesting for a bit, but I got bored, and From Dusk To Dawn was on last night, and even alcohol couldn't make that one watchable for more than five minuets.

Boring.

I dunno, any skank willing to shaft a rotting corpse (Hellraiser) is a sick fook.

"House" was on Cinemax one night, looked interesting...but turned out to be lousy after maybe the first twenty minutes. Maybe I'm not the target audience, but I found it almost laughably bad in certain places (trying too hard to be "shocking"), and one thing that distracted me a lot was the over-relience on cursing. That just seemed like a little much.

I'm the opposite of you in regards to the Thing; those are the parts of the film that have kept me up at night :p
