Following the time machine thread, reading a few other threads and getting a bit nostalgic what about those other gigs you did attend? Not necessarily the best gig you attended, but think of other categories

Best gig - New Order Brixton Academy 1987

Worst use of video clips: Inspired by another thread, Frontline Assembly why do they believe we want to go to a gig and watch vivisection videos?

Funniest gig: King Kurt, Dr Smegs wheel of misfortunate as pre gig entertainment.

Best architecture: 6 man pyrmaids on display at any New Model Army gig. Should really go down as dangerous as well due to the footwear worn.

Needless wrecking of equipment: Nine Inch Nails. Numerous guitars and the drumkit saved by a scaffold cage.

The absolute GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH is ALICE COOPER.This guy is the best at a TOTAL ROCK/FUN experience.I was amazed at the SOUND quality too at the BRUTAL PLANET TOUR.

Funniest CHAS and DAVE,KNEBWORTH supportung LED ZEPPELIN

Greatest GIG NEW ORDER at G.MEX when they first played VANISHING POINT.

Greatest PRE GIG booze up...meeting GARYMAC in DUKES 92 before MOVE at OLD TRAFFORD.

Greatest meeting the STARS...GRETTON TRIBUTE...GILLIAN,STEVE and HOOKY.

Saddest time at a gig...SHUGZV having to buy a round..VENUE and GROUP still to be formed.

Best atmosphere at a gig: Violent Femmes 1983. 1000 drunken college students bouncing off the walls and singing every song they knew from the first album, plus most of the forthcoming second album, and Gimme The Car and Ugly to top things off.

Worst: New Order Oakland 1985. Lackluster crowd annoys Barney and Peter, still lucky enough to get Sister Ray as an encord.

I think the Butthole Surfers have the most totally incongruous mix of backing films: autopsy, veneral disease treatment, and driver's training (read: car crash victims)films, mixed in between shorts from Gilligans Island and I Love Lucy. That's entertainment.

Best support over lame headliner: Shriekback for Simple Minds.

Best live cover: Einsturzende Neubauten's take of Sand, beats the record version to hell.

Concert I walked out of BUZZING all over (naturally): U2 at the USF sundome in tampa fl - joshua tree; I don't know how he did it but every one I talked to who went felt unbelievably RIGHT after that show.

BEST gig with dis-banded group: UNCLE TUPELO beer, music, dive, friends, small bar - couldn't have been better

MOST BIZARRE - tie btwn genitorturers and chainsaw kittens

BEST GIG OUTSIDE: Superchunk on Duke Campus in Raleigh, Durham - outside, perfectly clear night, cool outside and right up front

I'll save BEST GIG EVER once I see NO

Best gig - a rasta metal band from Handsworth called Him, Warwick University 1986. They were handing out joints to the front row.....

Worst gig - Primal Scream, Keele University 1989. We canned them offstage they were so bad.

Strangest experience - meeting Rocket Mick at Finsbury, seconds after the KFC incident.

best PISS UP at a gig. READING 98 With John & Lorraine, beer tent all day, loadsa free beer thanks to rubbing the black marker from Pink wrist bands:D

best pre-gig NOOL craic? tough to choose between FINSBURY 2002 and MOVE the same year. Finsbury saw the BRAZILIANS make an appearance, Manchester saw the SPANISH Budvar.

sawest stomach from laughing pre NO related event? DUKES 92 before Rob's Night at The Ritz. It's bad enough having Rocket Mick - but having Garymac with him as well? I suggest anyone who comes to meet us all for the next tour....Have a few drinks first.

best non no related gig? Elland Road 91. Drinking Pernod Shandy all day with John and his mates, great day great bands.

wankiest fans award? DINOSAUR JR (reading 93) dm clad baldy fuckwits (sorry Rocket) ruined a brand new pair of me trainers whilst pogoing and sieg hailing. Arseholes.

MOST DRUNKENEST APPEARANCE AT A GIG? Myself, wee cuz Steve and our mate Burnsy at IAN BROWN / MANICS Wembley December 2002. Celtic played the Huns on a mid-day kick off. We were installed in a pub at Kilburn at 11.00am, we got beat 3-2 and went on a pub crawl before the Manics gig. Absolutely SHITFACED, good craic as we danced on our seats though.
