Here we almost missed it because of temperature swings (-25 to +10 in one day, then froze back)... but we had one.

There were still little patches of snow on the ground here in Dallas on Christmas morning, but I wouldn't charactarize it as a white Christmas...
but in an odd turn of events, the city of Victoria, which is about 50 miles from the Gulf coast got a foot of snow Christmas Eve night into Christmas morning...now that's an oddity!
Well...it can...although it is much more common in the panhandle and western portions of the state...Amarillo and Lubbock usually see several days of snow a year...you have to remember, Texas is a pretty big place, so you can't make any real generalizations about weather here...Dallas got a decent amount of snow in February, and as a follow-up to my earlier post...read below...
Folks in Victoria, Texas, just off the Gulf Coast, weren't dreaming Saturday when they woke up to a white Christmas. They had one - the first in 86 years.
Almost a foot of snow fell overnight to give Victoria a taste of what the country's midsection has been dealing with the past two days: winter weather.
An arctic front that swept through the Midwest hit Indiana and Kentucky particularly hard, bringing record snowfalls that snarled holiday travel and stopped last-minute Christmas shoppers in their tracks. More than a dozen traffic deaths and thousands of auto accidents have been blamed on the storm so far.
The last time Victoria saw a measurable amount of snow was 1973, when a tenth of an inch fell. That's the same amount that fell on Christmas 1918, said Tony Merriman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Probably stretching it a bit to call it a white Christmas, but there was a light covering of snow on the ground on Christmas morning. Disappeared as quickly as the turkey, roast potatoes etc. though. It's the first time I can recall any amount of snow on Dec. 25th around here.
The DIGITAL family spent Xmas day and Boxing day at my mums in WEST BROM. It snowed late on xmas day and we built a SNOWMAN on Boxing day :)

Snowed here Tuesday night but spent Christmas at my mother's 90 miles to the southeast, no snow there.

Hi! I was visiting my parents that just moved to Minnesota and it did snow on Christmas. The other days it was just too cold to snow.

We had one - the first one in about six years! :) It snowed pretty much all of Christmas Day round my way. Shame the rain washed it all away in the middle of the night, though; on Boxing Day you wouldn't have known anything had happened. Oh well!

In any case, JEFF, for some reason I really imagined Texas to be that year-round hot wheather place, a bit like I imagine Arizona to be, with deserts, snakes and cactus!

no, but it was certainly surreal. nicaragua is a beautiful country, but managua is a stinking cesspool of putrescence, and there i was from the 24th to the 26th. the 1972 earthquake leveled the city centre and they've yet to rebuild it, what with dictators, civil war, and the CIA getting in the way. it's now basically hundreds of acres of dirt- and weed-covered rubble (though most of the rubble's been cleared, leaving just weeds and dirt) that sits in the middle of the city, acting as home to squatters. they never bothered to name the streets (seriously), and it's just a collection of run-down buildings, tin-roofed shacks, open sewers, large empty spaces, once-grand boulevards with crumbling statues now overgrown with weeds, and the occasional mercedes or BMW dealership.
at the stroke of midnight, christmas day, everyone in managua set off firecrackers for about two hours, with no rhyme or reason. i couldn't hear any talking or yelling, just loud popping and whizzing noises. there must have been millions of them!
