Am I alone in thinking that this is a complete overreaction? The desire that people have to work themselves into a frenzy over the swastika merely adds to the mystique of it. Our glorious third in line to the throne is indeed a complete berk but not because of the swastika...

If people continue to be flustered by this months later then it's an overreaction, but it's perfectly normal to be angered by this because he for the rest of his life will be a public figure, and the public generally prefer to look at people who aren't complete asses. Why not send him a message now that he's an arse who should change his ways?

But it does show a complete lack of common sense and judgement. When I was his age I knew better than that, and he's had a very expensive education, and all the priviliges of his position, he doesn't have the excuse of being an uneducated pleb like Barny with his 'Nazi haircut' (apologies to all uneducated plebs on this forum).

Plus, given the nature and history of that particular family, I do wonder whether he didn't get a little 'frisson' when he put on that armband. I'm not saying he's a Nazi, but there is an overlap between the ideology of racial superiority and the way the Royals are brought up to believe they are 'special' by virtue of birth and ancestry.

I'm sure the Royals will have to go eventually. Doubt that I'll live to see it though.

True, the "uniform" looks like something my buddies and I might whip up in our misguided attempts to celebrate Halloween past the age of eight. I didn't really think "Afrika Korps" when I saw it, more "lousy tan shirt", but there is a resemblence.

It's obvious why (apart from being an idiot) Harry would want to wear that get-up perhaps; the Nazis had better uniforms during WWII (nice fashion sense...hmm, wonder if they really WERE homophobes ). That doesn't mean it's a good idea to wear them now, but a Stormtrooper circa 1934 does cut an imposing figure. You just have to keep in mind, of course, that these well-dressed men were responsible for the most horrific crime perpetuated on an international scale since the Crusades and the various "religious" wars of the 1500s.

And yes, inbreeding lowers the intelligence level over time (that's what a typical Southern family has in common with the Royals... )
