Anyone plan on going this year? Rumors point to it being on April 30 and May 1. Hopefully New Order can swing by after their April dates (pleaaaaaaaase).
So far, the confirmed bands are: The Doves, Rilo Kiley, Futureheads, Autolux, and M83.

Does anybody really think that the Order would play Coachella? A festival out in the middle of the desert?
Come now, you guys are DREAMING!!!

Yes, but dreams do come true sometimes. ;)

A festival in the middle of the desert? Of course not. Unless you count Area One. ![]()

Better book the hotel quick. All surrounding hotels within a 25 mi radius go fast upon announcement of the dates except the ridiculously expensive ones. booked mine earlier today ![]()

Cheers, hadn't thought of that. Which would you recommend?
I don't know actually. That whole region is a resort area so even the two star hotels are pretty decent (from what I've seen at orbitz.com). My friend booked the International Lodge in Palm Desert (I think that's about 12 miles from Coachella) for $128/night. One bedroom suite with two queens and a fold out couch. We plan on loading it up with as many friends as possible. I've seen cheaper rooms for about $60/night if you go about 20 miles out in Palm Springs.

A bedroom with two queens? Who do you think I am? Rocket Mick?? ![]()

Isn't this one of the levels of hell, as described in Dante's Inferno?! To be stuck in the middle of a red-hot desert surrounded by Americans?!
:D
Only kidding. I may just be there come May. ![]()
But, and let me stress this most unequivocally, at no stage has there been any confirmation that New Order are playing Coachella this year. None at all.
There are rumours, true enough, but that is all they are. The only reason I have looked into flights and hotels is to be prepared should these rumours become truth, accommodation will be at a premium, and as you will appreciate it is a lot of money to come from the UK for one 90 minute set!
But why? other rumour is Glastonbury, isn't that better than Coachella?
Not that I know, but I'm not really interested in having to be surrounded by a mass of kids and being there 10 hours early just to see a short set of New Order.
Maybe it's a good experience, I can't say... but I sure prefer to wait for their own tour!
Glastonbury's history far surpasses Coachella's, but last year's Coachella lineup was far better than Glastonbury's.
Maybe he want's to see one of the following as well???
(All bands are RUMORED at this point, but what a sweet lineup if it's true.)
APR 30
·DAVID BOWIE ·NINE INCH NAILS ·PJ HARVEY ·INTERPOL ·THE FAINT ·FRANZ FERDINAND ·THE POLYPHONIC SPREE ·BOARDS OF CANADA ·TV ON THE RADIO ·YEAH YEAH YEAHS ·SQUAREPUSHER ·CLINIC ·FRENCH KICKS ·SECRET MACHINES ·PHOENIX ·BEEP BEEP ·DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS ·DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 ·THE HELIO SEQUENCE
MAY 1ST
·R.E.M. ·TEARS FOR FEARS ·WILCO ·MODEST MOUSE ·BRIGHT EYES ·JIMMY EAT WORLD ·MOS DEF ·BADLY DRAWN BOY ·THE STREETS ·SPOON ·CAKE ·THE POSTAL SERVICE ·THE SHINS ·SLEATER-KINNEY ·RILO KILEY ·RADIO 4 ·DOVES ·IRON AND WINE ·THE ARCADE FIRE ·MOVING UNITS
Now, having lifted this from another site...one of the other rumor boards discussing Coachella says that Modest Mouse has put up on their website that they WILL NOT be there...and IF the order does play, which day??? oh my...
you people had best not be getting my hopes up for NOTHING!!! :p
Originally posted by HOOKY DON'T FLY COACH! Erm...just ONE?!?!?!and how long a drive is it from SD to Coachella???
Sadly it's about 2 hours. If there was a freeway that went straight from here to Coachella it would only be a bit more than an hour, but to get there you have to take a freeway north then directly east.
They better had now, seeing as I have booked the plane ticket!
So that's you and Mr Jarvis seemingly more confirmed than NO. How many others are likely to make the trip, Alex I assume? Just like to know if I can provisionally blag a spot in a hotel room.

Mind if I sleep on your couch?

Alex is spending most of April on the road with Interpol so will be brassick and ain't planning a trip. I'm not convinced I'd go anyways, given the distance and if it's only the one gig. More opportunities later in the year.

It's a case of having to get ahead, particularly as accommodation will be at a premium. If there is no Order there, then losses may be cut. If they are there, it gets easier to justify. That's the price of love I guess!
Originally posted by Doctor Clayhead How quickly does it sell out, and what's the cost??
The presale starts today and I think it's $76/day. The actual sale starts on February 5th. Last year, the 1st day (Radiohead/Pixies/Kraftwerk) sold out, but it didn't sell out super quick. The 2nd day (the Cure) sold out shortly before Coachella. But tickets were readily available for decent prices on Ebay, if I remember correctly. I sold my extra ticket at cost. Getting lodging is more of a problem than getting tickets by the time they go on sale.
