When I was on holiday in London once in 2000, I asked my friend there where the 'real' Britons were, as everyone I saw out and about was either Indian, mainland tourist, Japanese, Chinese, or otherwise asiatic.
He told me "Look out for the shoegazing white people in any queue, that's them."
And I suppose we have to say that the "real Americans" are forced up into little colonies here and there......

You have to go on the London Eye, it's great. With only being here a few days, you won't have the time to go around all the sights, but you are certainly well placed for the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Pauls, Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Whitehall.
Plan your days in advance so you can tackle things that are close together. Buy a central London map or visit www.multimap.com
and don't forget the midget tossing that goes on daily at that McDonald's outside the tube station!!! :p
