St. Valentine's Day is upon us again, with all of the accompanying lovey-dovey greeting card cut-and-paste bullshite that gets foisted upon us by the corporations. For those of us unfortunate enough to be without a significant (or even insignificant) other on the supposedly biggest LOVE day of the year, it is another reason to hide the razor blades and crack open some bottles. Or to just ignore it altogether.
And for those who are with someone, it is another occasion in which one is expected to depart with some hard-earned change just because some corporations stole another idea from the religious nutjobbers and hyped it into a colossal excuse to boost revenues on candy, flowers, and cards. Then if one doesn't fulfill their capitalist obligations of the day, one is guilted into feeling bad about it by their significant other (and we all know that guilt is a useless emotion).
Since no one gives two fucks for yet another Catholic martyr who was tortured and jailed, should we ban Valentine's Day altogether and be done with this scourge once and for all?
