I wasn't talking about spending time here, M, I was talking about spending time on e-bay. Spending time here is a different matter entirely. This IS life.
NObabe wrote: Thanks, P! I feel reliefed (spelling?) now that someone truly shares my opinion.
I have no doubt that DC will ridicule me for the following statement, but the personal interaction I have here is far more stimulating than any I have in my "real" life.
NObabe wrote: I think he would be glad to hear that from you.
Well, perhaps we will find out if he ever returns from whatever it is he's off doing.
But he is certainly not the only source of interest here. I have "known" H for nearly four years and he is an unending source of interest. My acquaintance with Big is very recent, but I have formed a great esteem for him. And last, but certainly not least, there is the member from Belgrade, who came to my aid when I was under attack. How could I ever forget that, combined with the unbelievabe excellence in English coming from such a geographic location? Plus additional outstanding personal qualities too numerous to list.
Thanks, P! I feel the same way about you too. Hopefully DC and Mr. H won't get these words of mine wrong.

Thank you, M. They both may well pretend to, but I think behind the pretense they will both understand.![]()
Right I'm back.
I've had my dinner cooked by some friends (chicken satay) and two bottles of STELLA!!!
Is this the waffling thread now?

Welcome back, Big! Maya and I have missed you.

Welcome back, Big! Maya and I pissed in that Stella.
What?!?!?

Keep in mind, Big, that we're both many miles away...
BIGINOIL wrote: That's a shame. There's a good night out on this forum.
Yes, it is a shame, isn't it? Have I mentioned that alcohol is something that I too have experienced on occasion?

I was about to ask you that.
Perhaps this is the point where we don't need to talk any more because we are able to accuratley imagine what we would say anyway.

Well, but isn't it more entertaining to have one'e expectations fulfilled?
I've had a very productive day. I finished the work thing that I needed to finish and I've been spending a little time on the theory. It's still a very long way from being done but I think I will post an updated version before I go home.
Will you be posting that on the sane side?
They'll have forgotten what you look like over there.
What about this drinking business then? Are you a practised hand, or occasional boozer?
Yes, it will go up on the sane side.
Pretty practiced, I'd say.
I recently told H that I had gone on a new diet: no salt and no alcohol. I've been able to stick to half of that.

No salt for me, either. ![]()

I'm glad to hear that, Big. Salt is evil.
Bit embarrasing this, Patrick. I've been walloping on for weeks about not liking Dracula's Castle. Today, I had a proper listen to it and I have completely changed my mind. The way the bass follows the melody is excellent, the lyrics are good and Barney's singing is better than I've heard in ages. Oh, and the guitars are brilliant and the drumming is perfection - that stop/start beat that you only get from the Maccelsfield Metronome.
So what should I do? Can I just start saying good things about the song and hope that nobody will remember all the bad things I've said about it in the past? Do I need to keep on saying it's crap, while secretly harbouring a burning desire to tell the world how much I love it (wear my Dracula's Castle tee-shirt under a dirty mac, so to speak)? Publically apologise on a new thread (called "Jersey-Born Huston-Based Ozzy Fan Apology", obviously)?
It's been troubling me all day - I'd appreciate your help on this one.

I would recommend simply pretending that you always liked it and challenge people to present proof to the contrary.
For example, I didn't realize you hadn't cared for it before.
I've liked it for some time, but I can't remember whether I liked it from the very first.
By the way, the post is up, on the sane side.
I've read it. All I can say at the moment is that I am stunned by it. I suggest we try to keep that thread free from chat in order to maintain the very very high standrd you have set.
Really really impressed with that, Patrick.

Well, thank you very much, Big. I appreciate what you have to say because I know you take this little project as seriously as I do.
There is much more work to be done, though.
And frankly, I'm a bit fatigued. It's been a long day.
I think I'll be taking off, now.
So I will see you tomorrow, Big.
Thanks again for your very kind words.
Not much posting for me from work tomorrow. I'll get chucked out if I keep that rate up.
I'll check you at lunchtime to see what everyone thinks of your epic. 10 views so far and nobody has thought of anything to follow it (me included).
Take care, speak to you tomorrow.
Still stunned!

An obvious and stupid omission from my prior response is that a great part of it is your work, Big. Sorry.
I certainly understand the need to get back to a proper balance with work. I need to do that too.
Take care, my friend.
Whilst getting dressed this morning, I noticed that I have the word 'Patrick' written aroud the waistband of my underpants.
I don't know whether this is important, or even the sort of thing I should be posting here, but there it is.
