Little Dougie Gilmour??? He's a rat bastard...
my favorite player of all time wasn't very talented...but he was a scrappy little shit...was with the Stars in their early days in Dallas...

I expect Nicos to know of him since he was a Canadien at one point.

I know Brent Gilchrist! He played for my Wings for a little while, too. Good player, really scrappy. Always hustled.
And of course I know Brent Gilchrist, he started his career with the Habs.
But to be honest, I thought he disappeared a long time ago, since we only hear about him once a year, it's difficult to follow...
If I remember the last hockey game I watched, when the Bolts eliminated the Habs, I can say that watching Vincent Lecavalier and Alex Kovalev was quite entertaining...
my current favorite player is this guy the islanders have in their system, that actually should have made the team this season, a scappy finn called Sean Bergenheim, very gilmour-esq type player, scrappy, agitator and cand find the net with some pretty goals

jesus this is sad it seems like hockey is gone forever, and when it does come back, the yzerman's, Hull's and Lemieux's will be just about dont if they arent already, the Iginla's will have missed a season of their Prime and the Whole league's Salvation is going to be dependent on Sydney Crosby
i am even forgetting about hockey and i was at one time an NHL Maniac, i still play Twice a Week Though
im not sure if i miss it anymore i am just so annoyed with the whole thing
and here in NYC its not like in canada where i can catch my local Junior team and see some competitive hockey

There is no major sport in Montreal in 2005! nothing at all!
We'll have CFL later and the soccer's A League, but that's not too major.
At least we have the Water Games and Formula 1 Grand Prix & Champ Car race...

wow this hockey post is getting kind of long. didnt think anyone cared at this point. i agree bobby orr was the best but right behind him i would place Denis Potvin, great both ways, tough, great leader the most complete d-man ever, still second to orr, then i would put Doug Harvey, Ray Bourque, Larry Murphy and then the over-rated Paul Coffey

I am a fan of both players, diehard Bruin fan here...but I feel Bourque was much better at defense then Orr.
orr was a Phenominal Offensive Talent, but that made people overlook just how great he was Defensivly, he still has the Plus Minus Record and thats not Getting Broken Ever he was Plus 124!!! what does a guy win the +/- award with nowdays +40!! i know the game is different but nobody has come close , even in the 80's

In terms of great defenseman, I agree that Orr was better than Bourque. Bourque was obviously an incredible player, but not quite as amazing as Bobby.
I think that, once he retires, Nick Lidstrom will be considered one of the all-time great defenseman. His copnsistently near-perfect play, offensive skill, lpoise and unbelievable defensive skill is second to none. I'm not saying he is better than Orr or something, but I think he is right up there with some of the all-time greats.
