The Killers

Barn-o-rama has gone on record as stating that The Killers have had a huge influence on New Oder. I was wondering are The Killers a good band? Would you recommend them to NO fans? Is there sound like NO? Or what? Do they sing with knives and machine guns in their hands or something? LOL

They sound like Depeche Mode with cheaper electronic actually.

I love this band! i cant remeber the last time i've heard a cd where the first 6 songs on it could all be singles and go top 10. 7-11 are still damn good too. my favorite songs are "all these things i've done" and "Smile Like You Mean it". Aside from the New Order video, I can't hear much New order or any Depeche Mode influences in this band. It's not as obvious as it is with Interpol/Joy Division I guess...

Pretty good album from The Killers...best songs: "Jenny was a friend of mine" "Mr. Brightside" "All these things that I've done" "Change your mind" and "Everything will be alright"... I don't like so much the last single...

Pretty mediocre "indie rock" for want of a better description - one or two likeable tunes but overall unremarkable. The song "Indie rock n roll" is cringe inducing. Can't really see the NO comparisons everyone is on about. Just cause they use synths/guitars doesn't mean they sound like em

Hell, I haven't even bought the new Interpol, so asking me to give the Killers my hard-earned money is a bit much.

On their second album, Interpol decided to stop sounding like Joy Division and instead derive from Crispy Ambulance. The best analogy between JD and CA i've ever heard is that if Joy Division was the Rolling Stones then Crispy Ambulance was Aerosmith.

If that's true then why are they gettng so much attention?

The second Interpol album is a bit more textured than the first one, but the overall sound is pretty much the same. The JD comparisons are highly overrated - true there is some similarity in the vocal delivery, but for the rest Interpol stand on their own feet. I reckon they write cranking tunes with lyrical depth and can't wait to see them live in July. As for The Killers, Mr Brightside was a fairly good single, but I didn't really get into the rest of the album - too generic for my liking.

The Killers are a good pop band. They remind me of what Interpol should sound like. Lead singer is a great front man. Although he plays keys every now and then synth is not their sound. They really need a dedicated key player. Guitarist sounds a bit like the wanker from U2.
I saw them live in May. They played new material and put on a great show.

New Order = X Interpol = acid The Killers = coke

I quite like The Killers myself. I'd certainly rather have them than Interpol.

Killers are absolutely brilliant. So are Interpol and Bloc Party as well. Haven't bought their cd yet but "Smile like you mean it" really kicks ass.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who likes it.

I thought Andy was the worst song on the lp until I saw them live. It was the second tune of the show and kicked ass. The We All Stand of the Killers.

Well, I've never heard them live and I like it nevertheless.

I LOVE THE KILLERS!!! I REALLY LOVE THEM!!! In the morning, when I go to job, I listen "Somebody Told Me" and it just makes me feel so good! Moreover, they're very handsome boys!!!
