vapour trail - still gorgeous song

never saw them live, remember the music mags calling them "shoe-gazers" - nowhere came out while i was still at the student radio station and we all went brit band crazy for awhile - i remember something about (correct me if i'm wrong) the 'manchester beat'. does anyone remember this?
excellent band. nowhere is one of the best albums of the early '90s and 'vapour trail' one of my favourite songs of all time.
smile, carnival of light, and tarantula are all decent albums, but don't come close to nowhere.
Ride were southern softies, Oxford I think - nowhere near Manchester. Their current connection is that one of them is now in Oasis (or is a backing session musician for the Gallagher brothers). Saw them sbout 92 they were excellent.
Ride is still one of my favorite bands. And yes, they were shogazers, like MBV, Adorable, Kitchens of Distinction, Slowdive, Swervedriver, Pale Saints etc... There is a "manchester beat", I can'n explain it here, of course, but AFAIK, it basically goes something like the beat on the 'Here and Now', on the parts with mouth harmonica (not counting intro, obviously). You can hear it well on the end of the track.
current solo mark gardner - he's playing in the UK in july; if anyone goes let us know if he plays any ride tunes and how his solo work is~
If I remember correctly (from some Ride mailing list), he does play Ride songs, tho it's all acoustic now...
No, that's Mark Gardner (lead singer). Andy Bell is in Oasis (he plays bass), the lead guitarist from Ride. Which is pretty ironic, as they were arguing while Ride was still big...
