Richard Whitely was a legend. Enough of the trivialising of his death. He brightened up my life. Lazy afternoons just wont be the same again.

You wont find a more genuine human being on telly ever again, and for that (along with the uninformed jokes) we have to thank you Americans.

huh? what does this have to do with america? i imagine you've seen all of our programmes--including the hundreds that aren't shown in ireland?

anyway, remember this: it's the brits who spawned the culture of reality television with pop idol, survivor, big brother, etc,. etc., not us!

It was more of an inarticulate comment on the vacuous nature of American popular culture that we seem to be swollowing by the throatful over here, n'stuff - djaknowwhatImean.

If you are going to take the piss out of the legend that was our Richard, do it in a style he would have approved of- like this poster at HolyMoly:

Played the bumbling thick all his career on Countdown, then goes out with Pneumonia - thereby using a nine letter word and all of the vowels. Show off.
